Internship Housing Advice

I recently accepted an offer to work in Richardson for an internship this summer. I’ll be in the DFW area from mid-May until mid-August and currently, I’m in pretty dire need of a short term lease or rental situation. I’ve checked on Facebook, Airbnb, vrbo, Zillow, and even the UTD housing communities and can’t seem to find something that works or is reliable.
That said, I figured I’d come here to see if you guys had any more recommendations on what I could do or know someone that would be willing to lease out a property for an intern. A sublease would be fantastic but at this point, anything helps!
Thank you so much!

Richardson is a solid area, especially around UTD. From a crime perspective, it’s one of the quieter parts of DFW. If you end up looking nearby, places like Plano or North Dallas are pretty similar.
Since you’re new to the area, it’s worth checking safezone.city to compare specific addresses before committing. It pulls from Dallas open data, so you can see what’s actually happening around a location before signing a lease.

Congratulations on your internship! I work with and represent a couple of colleges and universities in the DFW area that offer summer intern housing that may meet your timeline. You can learn more about their availability and amenities for this summer here: www.internhousinghub.com

My daughter has an internship in downtown Dallas during the same timeframe. We also looked everywhere before finally settling on renting an apartment from The Village Dallas. It’s a good location off of Hwy 75, and they offer 3 month leases. We will be paying about $1500 per month for a 1 bedroom. You could possibly get a studio a little cheaper. The only issue is that the units are not furnished, so you will need to find some furniture once you arrive or transport it from home. Options are really limited, unfortunately.

The village is a great place if you can get a shorter lease!!

Lots of great properties will do three month leases. Definitely be careful of Facebook marketplace. As Still said, it is full of scams. If you want help with your search, let me know please. I'd love to help as an Apartment Locator.
