What is one place in the Balkans that you would never visit?

Like a city or area anywhere where you would stay far away from or not visit?
Incvbvs666@reddit
Croatia I only pass when I need to get to Slovenia or Italy, never stopping for anything.
Albania or Albanian-controlled areas of Kosovo never.
Even if I could get past the personal safety aspect of these toxic ultra-nationalist societies, I don't ever want to support them in any way, shape or form.
Antique_Birthday6380@reddit
It’s not that huge issue that your kind doesn’t come here in Albania anyway.
NoSync22@reddit
😄
Diermeech@reddit
Every time you pass through Croatia you pay us 20 euros 😎😎.
You can try going passing through Hungary if you don't like it here.
AcanthisittaSure9251@reddit
I would like to visit all the countries in the Balkans at some point. I have been to a few countries and I would love to go back and see the others.
Mucklord1453@reddit
North Albania or Kosovo. I just would not feel safe or comfortable among that culture
MusaCFC@reddit
Aren't you turkish? A lot of turks love to visit there
Mucklord1453@reddit
how in the world did you figure I was turkish??? If I WAS turkish, then yes as you said I'd feel RIGHT at home in Kosovo and most of Albania.
MusaCFC@reddit
My bad, your title is rum so I assumed it to mean anatolia and on ur profile it shows u are active in a few turkish/ottoman subs.
Bosankasadnakace@reddit
What's the culture there?
Mucklord1453@reddit
Albano-Islamic
Antique_Birthday6380@reddit
Genius, how the heck Northern Albania is albano-islamic when most of that region is literally Catholic?
OverallPhrase4623@reddit
😭
MusaCFC@reddit
Id like to visit novi pazar in serbia, but besides that I dont think id actually want to go anywhere else in serbia. Idk a lot of serbs online come across as a bit crazy (I mean because they support recent atrocities that happened) but I apologise if actually most serbs are not like this and iv just come across the wrong people.
papadubizorz840@reddit
What recent atrocities?
MusaCFC@reddit
Most recently I visited bosnia, its sad what happened to the bosniaks. Reading the names of thousands of dead people on a wall is a very humbling experience.
papadubizorz840@reddit
If you dig deeper and read about all the terrible things that happened in this world and judge a whole nation by that, you will hardly find any countries to visit. The point is that the history of Europe is bloody. All our hands are bloody. We have our own sad stories.. if we all start pointing fingers we would just stay where we are and never visit another country. You need to grow up and see past that.
MusaCFC@reddit
My point was more to do with the fact that I see serbs in online spaces openly supporting it. Germany committed atrocities but you dont find german people praising it. Similar to what happens in gaza, its terrible yet many israelis openly support it.
Necessary-Noise5578@reddit
We do have a lot of idiots. But if you come to Serbia ill bet my left tit youd have an amazing time!
MusaCFC@reddit
Thank you very much 🫡
Unfortunately in many places around the world the actions of a few tend to ruin it for everyone 🙃
blumonste@reddit
Slovenia, Croatia.
Esdoorn-Acer@reddit
Luckily is Slovenia not Balkan.
Izensteen@reddit
Yambol
vbd71@reddit
Yambol has an impressive Ottoman bedesten.
Izensteen@reddit
That does make it interesting. But I would still avoid Yambol.
User20242024@reddit
I would never visit those Balkan countries which are part of EU.
J0hnnyBlazer@reddit
Bosnia, serbia, albania, kosovo, bulgaria, makedonia, rumania
Ujemegaz@reddit
Now rearrange them in alphabetic order and remove the first ☝️😎
Turbulent-Lime-2466@reddit
Man that’s all of them.
casual_philosopher02@reddit
he left Greece out 😎
Big-Vegetable4550@reddit
And Montenegro/Crna Gora
Turbulent-Lime-2466@reddit
Greece nice malaka.
J0hnnyBlazer@reddit
only because of you
J0hnnyBlazer@reddit
lmfao, yes, I never visit balkan anymore, croatia is nice and greece seems worth visiting but I prefer asia thailand, vietnam, philippines. Only thing better in balkan are the ladies tbh
gushi1-@reddit
So you prefer lady boys
TinyAsianMachine@reddit
We got them beat on that, have you not been to Slovenia?
gushi1-@reddit
Can not say I have. Forgot about Slovenia, are they even considered Balkan?
Turbulent-Lime-2466@reddit
Hell yeah you look like you fuck.
life_support_of87@reddit
I guess if you are allergic to dog or cat fur then dont go to montenegro. The strays are so common, there be at least 1-5 kittens every street
ClothesZestyclose814@reddit
Podgorica must be pretty underwhelming, and Bulgaria's Sunny Beach must be pretty violated and over-built.
canyoubelieveitt@reddit
Sunny Beach is if you take the noise levels of India, the architecture of Belarus, the lights of Tokyo and the inhabitants of a British city.
KakaoFugl@reddit
Young people from Denmark loved going there 15 years ago and behave like wild monkeys
canyoubelieveitt@reddit
Sometimes I go there with friends because as Bulgarian you can be certain to not see anyone you know there. So its great to get drunk and if you potentially embarrass yourself at least nobody you know will see it 😄
Impossible_Gene_5475@reddit
Truly the Las Vegas of the Balkans
matthewstifler@reddit
Belarus randomly catching strays out there.

It's not

Loopbloc@reddit
Restaurant on the beach in summer months like July and August.
ClothesZestyclose814@reddit
Not in Greece, we have amazing beach restaurants but in more isolated beaches. Some of the best seafood you will ever have.
CamelAmbitious7425@reddit
Interesting, in Croatia you will find better seafood restaurants in Zagreb than in most places on the Coast, especially during Summer.
ClothesZestyclose814@reddit
Greece has a gigantic coastline, more than Brazil. There are so many peninsulas, islands, gulfs and straits that it's ridiculous.
The Greek coastline will always have isolated and non-touristy places because it's so damn big. These places have top notch food.
CamelAmbitious7425@reddit
The Same thing is true for Croatia but for some reason most restaurants at the coast still suck. They either have low quality food or are to expensive or both. There are ofcourse also good restaurants where the locals eat, but those are rarely in top locations.
Rare_Mechanic_9217@reddit
You must visit U našega Marina, Omiš!
Big-Vegetable4550@reddit
Yes - it’s odd. There are some good seafood restaurants here on the coast where I live, but you need to get away from the tourist heavy areas. Stranger still, I mostly cook at home with fish I buy from the local fish markets. But I went to Zagreb for a couple of weeks before Christmas & OMG - the quality of the fish available in Dolac market is so much better than my local places - and the fishing boats are docking here! I guess they get better prices in Zagreb, but I didn’t really notice a big difference.
hopper_froggo@reddit
What about less frequented places on the coast?
CamelAmbitious7425@reddit
Less frequented places on the coast are still full of Tourist in the summer months and the restaurants are made for tourist. If you want a good restaurant ask a local.
New_Leave_1372@reddit
why?
Low_Skill_4096@reddit
Greece
Necessary-Noise5578@reddit
Targeted for what?
Embarrassed_Ad1722@reddit
Not eager to visit any gypsy ghettos in Bulgaria and I've been to most. At best they will leave you alone or ask you for money, at worst they will murder you depending on the time of day.

Dracula castle
Dull_Cucumber_3908@reddit
How would I know such place before visiting it? Sounds stupid to me.
SinancoTheBest@reddit
I wish the best for Kosovans like the next guy but I'm not eager to visit the country with limited recognition anytime soon before visiting all other, internationally fully recognized Balkan countries.
Particular-Sweet6047@reddit
Why would the recognition affect your visit? Genuinely asking?
SinancoTheBest@reddit
Idk why, it's such a stupid thing I know and usually that kind of stuff like visiting transnistria excites me but with Kosovo it just feela wrong to visit before checking off all recognized countries. In practice it ahouldnt matter because I dont think Serbia cares about Kosovo stamps unless you entee kosovo first and want to enter into Serbia
gloryofkuzco@reddit
That's what I'm wondering too lol

Mount Athos, because I wasn't born an Orthodox and they probably wouldn't let me in
Neat_Culture_5159@reddit
They let in a small number of people from other religions. Only men though. The must is to be born male.
dittreo@reddit
I am a man, so maybe I could get in then.
RedScarySpectre@reddit
Uh now I want to go.
I am catholic and a woman though which makes it impossible twice 🤣
Spare_Item3882@reddit
Have traveled all around the world will never go to Serbia unless it’s time to conquer their land
Abject_Avocado_6410@reddit
For us croatians, Serbia and Montenegro are not safe countries for visit. Rest of the Balkan is ok, some places have good food, some wines, some cities, some nature, some good nightlife and festivals, so I’m opened for visit any other states and cities
LjiljaB22@reddit
Yes all of us Serbs are out to get you
Abject_Avocado_6410@reddit
Not funny
CamelAmbitious7425@reddit
Black sea Coast of Romania and Bulgaria.
Starscreamuk@reddit
Sunny beach is not the only place on the bulgarian sea coast, there are resorts and towns suited for pretty much every demographic.
CamelAmbitious7425@reddit
Its not only Sunny beach im not interested in. The whole black sea is simply not as nice as the mediterranean sea.

SB1985@reddit
I am convinced that even if the government did an intervention and cleaned up the area, it would return back to how it is now within 6 months max thanks to the mindset of people that live in said area (trying to word it nicely xD)
humanistazazagrliti@reddit
Gornja Maoča, Bosnia.
Also Mt. Athos.
ClothesZestyclose814@reddit
Mount Athos is objectively one of the most beautiful places in the world, and a UNESCO world heritage site. I'm not religious but Athos is a must visit.
vbd71@reddit
It's like the male toilet, though
RedScarySpectre@reddit
I often go to male toilets when the queue for female is too long, though.
humanistazazagrliti@reddit
I wouldn't pass the ID check, I think.
ClothesZestyclose814@reddit
Only if you're a woman
humanistazazagrliti@reddit
I think it's limited to people who have "male" in their ID.
PersimmonTall8157@reddit
Gornja maoca is a small random village used as propaganda. There’s really nothing going on there in reality.
RedScarySpectre@reddit
I would not go for hikes alone in Bosnia because they still have landmines in some remote areas.
Adogg03@reddit
I thought that for most established trails this isn’t a huge concern anymore.
RedScarySpectre@reddit
They removed a bunch and have signals in areas that still have them. But I would not adventure alone. All it takes is for you to accidentally deviate from the marked trails and off you go
But cities and the usual touristic places are obviously perfectly fine, thousands of people go there everyday and nobody was blown. I am just talking about going into more secluded places.
stuyvesant1@reddit
Bulgaria.
canyoubelieveitt@reddit
I will visit Macedonia though once its majority Albanian (ca. 2030).
stuyvesant1@reddit
Frankly, I dont think anyone cares wether you'll visit the country or not.

Dreznicki@reddit
Albania and Croatia for obvious reasons
IvaCoMne@reddit

Kid probably heard someone talk poorly of Albania.
Dreznicki@reddit
Old enough to know better
Ronaldo_Mustafai@reddit
Dude trust me…none gives a fuck where you come from in Albania…actually you as Serb might get better treatment than tourist from 90% of other countries…Not because you are Serbian but because you come from the Balkans.
