Have you found the perfect bin?

For those of us who have just caught up with the 20th century and entering the exciting world of food recycling, have you found the perfect indoor bin combo? At the moment we have 50L recycling and 30L general waste. All the “non contact” triple bins we can find have equal size compartments- but I don’t need 18L of food waste and need more than 18L of recycling. So, who has found the perfect bin combo?

Has anyone used the EKO Deluxe bin? I’m planning to buy one but I’m not sure about the quality. I’d love to hear your advice, thanks!

Are you talking recycling, food waste and rubbish for landfill as your 3 compartments, because I’ve not found one which does all three yet, as the food waste one needs to be so much smaller.
We have an older version of this one with 2 compartments, and keep food waste separately in an
in-kitchen-cupboard pull-out / fitted bin.

Correct

We have a compost caddy and thick paper food waste bags that fit inside. We keep the caddy separate from the other bins, by the back door.

I am yet to join the brave world of composting!

We do have home compost, but use this set up for the food recycling bin which is gets collected every two weeks! The brown bag goes in the bin when it’s full.

We have an older version of this and love it https://www.josephjoseph.com/products/totem-max-60l-waste-recycling-bins-black?_gl=1h7qz0y_upMQ.._gs*MQ..&gclid=Cj0KCQjwm6POBhCrARIsAIG58CJpBnpS5wP7uEDEKnx5z_Dzz2XQuBV6DTpShbopTy2fvpnHX5w0Z9caAq4aEALw_wcB&gbraid=0AAAAADm6GSBWJ2HOglTIJ6ceyifvXyFBM

I saw those but I felt they might not be very compatible with a nosy small child?

This John Lewis one is perfect. The colour matches our kitchen and it fits literally inch perfectly.

Is that 3 or 2 compartments?

2

I like that, I'm stuck with a motion detecting one atm and faffing with the batteries is proving to be more effort than it's worth. May look into this model.

I couldn’t be bothered with that!
Funnily enough we stayed in a few Airbnb’s last summer and two of them had this exact model. We liked them so much we bought one when we got home!
Wow, I’m old.

Yes! It's by Tower, and has three compartments - one for general waste, one for paper/card and one for plastic/metal. We also have a separate small food recycling bin that sits on the worktop. But I spent ages and ages looking for a perfect bin after we got our kitchen put in, because my wonky brain couldn't face putting the old one back into the new shiny room.

Thanks, I’ll take a look!
