how many litres is that?
HippyGrrrl@reddit
18, if my math is right.
Think a Kanken.
NewYorkDOCG@reddit
No way. I have this bag. It’s not even big enough for school. I’d say 30L is the absolute minimum but 40/45 would be best.
HippyGrrrl@reddit
Er, I said Kanken 18L
NewYorkDOCG@reddit
Yes. I actually have the 21L kanken. It’s barely big enough for a day out never mind a 2 week trip anywhere. You need at least 30L.
Also the Kanken is terrible in terms of pockets. It’s just got the 2 umbrella sleeves (won’t fit anything wider than a disposable bottle of water!) and the front pocket. There are no inner pockets.

I’m not suggesting anything. Someone asked the volume and I answered.
And my 18L took me on a weeklong trip.

I travel basically with nothing and would not travel with anything less than 30L. Unless you are going to wear the same outfit everyday and not be ready for rain

You should gather your belongings first and see how much space they take up.

What’s your packing list?
I have done a week in a Kanken, and with a laundry day, it could have been two. (And so on. Pack for a week forever. .

Small enough that you can take it as carry-on? Sure...it has a lot of benefits carrying a small bag, and very few downsides.
If possible try it before you go.Put what you need in it,walk around with it for a few hours, see how that feels...

I guess OP is more concerned about not having necessities. Being on a shoestring implies you won't go buy stuff you randomly need on the road. I say OP, try the smaller pack and do a lot of thinking about items that can serve multiple purposes. You'll learn so much about packing and what is essential by not having something that could help. It's only 2 weeks so you'll survive without some things that seem necessary in the moment.
