The SA-35 is the only handgun that physically hurt me to shoot that wasn't related to recoil. Using a high thumb forward grip the rear tang would dig into the web of my hand and the back of the safety would dig into my thumb as I rode the safety like I would on a 1911 making the shooting experience very unpleasant. I tried a thumbs crossed grip under the safety and the safety would get knocked up into the safe position so the gun wouldn't fire. I tried my friends Hi-power with an ambi safety and it was much better so I think a Turkish clone might be the way to go. I would recommend trying to hold one in person if you can.

The forged parts are forged in Turkey and finished by Springfield in the US. The Inglis guns are made in Turkey and imported. And there are reports of Inglis parts being out of spec compared to the original Hi Powers, like the extractors. So you're pretty much stuck waiting for SDS to import you a new one if you have problems. I don't think that's an issue with the Springfields.

I have the nickel plated Inglis Turkish clone and like it a lot. Only have about 100 rounds through it, but didn't have a single hiccup. The finish on mine has one little discoloration blemish on the slide, but all the machining is great. Definitely a solid gun for $400. My only issue with mine is the checkered wood grips dig into my thumb a little bit when shooting, so was probably going to sand it down there a bit.

The initial runs had extraction issues, a buddy of mine bought a later serial numbered one after Springfield allegedly fixed the issue. He still had issues so he took it to a gunsmith and had the feed ramp polished, new extractor and spring put in and yet the gun couldn’t make it through a mag. He sold it off and got a CZ 75. If you want a high power save an extra $400 and get an FN

We know for a fact that Springfield does the machining on the original forgings in the US because they've claimed it and they're not stupid enough to lie. The class action would put them out of business.
The language they use cleverly omits the fact that they don't actually make the forgings themselves. Insiders claim they come 80% or less from Tisas' plant in Turkey.
Which is fine, actually. Forgings don't need to be precise, and nobody has accused Tisas of bad metallurgy on their forged parts. It's their castings and fitment work that gave them a bad rep in the past.
