"The Swift was the first aircraft produced by the small Comper Aircraft Company. It was a minute single-seat sports aircraft designed to be both affordable and, at the same time, competitive. Of classic wood and fabric construction, its high wings were easily foldable backwards in order to facilitate storage. Power was provided by an assortment of engine types. Fourty-four of them were built between 1929 and 1934." Source

I'm always amazed by this type of aircraft with near zero front visibility . Taking off is one thing, but I'd dread to try landing something like this !

Charles Lindbergh flew one all the way across the ocean.

When the airfield is literally just a field and you don't have to be arsed with actually coming down on a runway I suppose it matters less.

You'd need to sit on a stack of phone books to see over the wing.

I love this and would enjoy having one

When you can't decide between a high wing and a low wing
aka_Handbag@reddit
Why do you say that?

The wing is not exactly high or low. On a high wing the pilot is usually positioned below the wing, on a low wing they are positioned above the wing. Here the pilot's head is pretty much exactly at wing level.

I fell in love with the Comper Swift when I saw it at the Shuttleworth Collection. It looks like immense fun to fly.
