I am travelling there during the Champions League final and it seems all the accomodation are price gouging tourists .. I presume this is not normal price? Even dorms with shared bedrooms are charging 80-100 euro a night

I have an apartment 2.5KM from the stadium (~30min by foot, 10min by public transport). I'm going to be away for the time period. DM me for details if you are looking for a place to stay at.

Hey! I have a small studio apartment available for rent during the Champions League final, from Friday until Sunday or Monday.
The price is very fair, I’m not looking to make a fortune, and I know how crazy the prices have become in Budapest for this period. The flat is tiny but fully equipped with a bathroom, kitchen, living area, and a sleeping area on the gallery.
The stadium is about 25 min away by public transport. If you're interested, please drop me a message and I’ll send you photos, the price, and all the details!

Unfortunately these prices are definitely not normal for Budapest. The final weekend has pushed everything up massively.
I’m a local host in District V and even normal apartments are getting very expensive now. If you don’t find anything reasonable, feel free to DM me — I may have a city-center apartment available for that weekend. The stadium is only about 5 metro stops away.

Renting out family apartment during the champions league. I would prefer family who can take care of the place.

I have a 1 bedroom apartment 3.5km away from the stadium, right next to a metro station. I’ll be away for that period, if you’re looking for accommodation send a dm

I might rent out my apartment for the Champions League Final weekend. It’s next to City Park (Városliget), and around an 18-minute walk from the stadium. Although I'm not sure bc I dont want anyone to ruin it, but feel free to DM me if interested! Maybe we are a match.

Thanks for all the reply :) it’s my first time travelling for an event, so I didn’t realise how far ahead I should book accomodation, and I also didn’t expect price to go up that much! But lesson learned
igenigen@reddit
I do not want to be rude, but what did you expect?
Tourism is a supply and demand business. While it may not be 100% morally correct, a hotel / hostel has the right to increase there prices if there is a big event happening in the city. For example, you should see the rates during Sziget. Now that is price gouging.
Also, you are booking a bit last minute.
pitorwolf@reddit
I don’t know if prices are usually this high during Sziget, but for example, at one of the hotels I usually stay at, they’re requiring a minimum two-night stay for those dates, which would normally be around 40k HUF, but is now around 230k. There’ll be a Scooter concert at BP Park, I just forgot that the BL final is happening too.
I saw a few comments about the hotel prices under the articles on Champions League final ticket prices, saying that no one expected such price hikes.
Most places don’t allow bookings a year in advance. They usually open the calendar in January, but in some places, for example, May was still grayed out two weeks ago. Meaning you couldn’t book for that date yet. Of course, i understand that they aren’t primarily expecting locals for that event.
Ja, szívás.
igenigen@reddit
To clarify, I am not saying someone should book an accomidation 1 year ahead of time.
Most people cannot plan that far in advance. However, to wait 2 months ahead and especially before peak season starts was not the wisest.
Since COVID, Hungary has been far from cheap and unfortunately a lot of people who live abroad get surprised.
Sea_Drummer_9330@reddit
For the most part the tickets to CL final are sold via lottery system, which closed less than a week ago. As the odds of winning the right to buy tickets are so small, last minute booking is understandable. Sucks, but it is what it is.
igenigen@reddit
I’m not really interested in football and what you may have written could be true, but there’s this great thing called free cancellations which both airlines and hotels offer.
Environmental_Bass42@reddit
Well, there's going to be a Champion's League final, so it's hard to talk about normal prices... If I were you, I'd book accomodation in a place like Kistarcsa, Csömör, Gödöllő etc. They are easily accessible by rail or suburban rail, even later at night. I still see rooms there for 50-60 euros per night.
utsuriga@reddit
Life is expensive as fuck here for locals, and tourists tend to have the sort of money us locals don't. Those who make their living from tourism have been gouging prices since forever, they just leveled up.
Notnumber44@reddit
I'm not sure if may is high season yet, but it definitely feels a little like that in Budapest. Why are you traveling if you can't afford it?
