There are shooters competing at a very high level with the PDP and it is frequently recommended as one of the best polymer striker fired guns for action pistol.
I don't know of anyone doing/saying the same with the VP9.

It's a chicken / egg problem. There is not the same aftermarket support for the VP9, probably because not a lot of people picked it up as it launched ages ago NOT optics ready AND expensive. The PDP launched optics ready affordable.
Current gen VP9A1s are probably arguably better, but you could easily get one of the competition model PDPs and be further ahead than a stock VP9 which you'd have to upgrade.

Interesting point. I don't see the VP9 anywhere really. The USP seems more common and that's like several generations back.
I see a lot of people say that the PDP is "oversprung". I'm inclined to believe that the engineers know what they are doing, but I see complaints of "snappy" recoil impulse.

The PDP is has a slide like a bowling ball. It's very snappy, but the trigger is phenomenal and it returns quickly.
I actually really like the VP9 and think it's a great gun. But the PDP is better. And Walther doesn't do goofy HK shit. Ever see the trigger bar spring in a vp9? Classic German engineering.

VP9 standard here. Pdp has a better trigger, probably more recoil though as the bore axis is insane for a striker. vP9 is NOT that much better though as it's still relatively high.

Walther’s trigger is slightly better, but the HK is easier to shoot, has been over tested to the nth degree, better ergos, and it’s an HK, they’re just cool.
That said, try handling both and seeing which one you like better. Honestly both are top quality.

When was it tested to the nth degree? I say this as a recovering HK fanboy. Not that many years ago the VP9 was not doing so well in the informal torture tests that were the rage for a short period. I have a VP9A1 K and a PDP. There’s not really anything about the VP9 that makes it seem dramatically more durable or reliable.
I will say that personally the VP9 has the worst stock texture of any of the striker fired pistols.

Maybe they didn’t test the VP9 like they did the USP, Mark 23, CC9 etc. I know the CC9 went through 750K rounds, but it’s not like HK to release something without rigorous testing.
As for the PDP, I don’t have any issues with it at all, I just prefer a VP9 overall. I also like HK’s line of stuff way better than Walther.
And as for the CZ P10, I absolutely hate CZ’s strikers and most of their polymer stuff in gener. But that’s more of a personal thing. I just don’t like CZ.

I’ve owned the VP9A1 F and a PDP at the same time.
PDP has a better trigger, better slide serrations, and better grip texture.
VP9 has the different panels, but after trying many different combinations, I still felt like stock M panels were best—and the grip was very slick compared to the PDP.
VP9 felt slightly more solid in a way that’s hard to articulate. Like a Lexus vs a Toyota if that makes any sense.
I sold the VP9. With the PDP as good as it is, I really don’t see the point of the VP9, especially at a $200-300 price premium.

Unfortunately it has a pretty sharp recoil pulse and is pretty oversized which makes it kind of ill suited for CCW. I rented a VP9 and PDP compact a few months ago and found the VP9 easier to shoot. With practice and better grip fundamentals I could probably get used to the PDP recoil, but a compact sized gun that’s difficult to conceal is a potential deal breaker for me.

I had the same thought but at a quick glance it looks like you can in fact go out and find the best deal you can and then submit the rebate as the form does ask for the vendor to be listed.
