What if the big lebowski could actually walk?

Walter is wrong about most things and pretends to be an expert on things he's not. Whether or not he's seen a lot of spinals really doesn't matter (and could very well be bullshit), it doesn't give one the ability to give somebody in a wheelchair a once-over and tell whether they're faking or not. Walter imagines the worst in most people and believes his own bullshit immediately. Also I don't feel like the Big Lebowski wants sympathy (he wants respect) and I don't see where being in a wheelchair gives anybody instant authority. If Lebowski is lying about anything it might be HOW he lost the use of his legs (a bullet in Korea sounds better than car accident or something more mundane) but I don't see where he's lying about his legs. The movie seems to make it pretty clear he's actually disabled by going for the fake twist that he can walk only for him to wind up on the floor acting more pathetic than he'd probably want anybody to witness.
