Oh, absolutely. Both of those have an 8-9" barrel and an OAL of 16-18". However, neither of them require a buffer tube to accommodate the bolt and recoil system. This will maintain a manual of arms more similar to an AR-style rifle/pistol than either of them.
In some ways, it's like trying to compare an AR15 and a SCAR; same same but different.
FWIW, CMMG does have an 8.5" option though not in this package, it seems.
