Only saw one once in the one mine went to and that was when I was far later than normal collecting, it was 5 mins before closing when the staff were tidying toys up etc and there were only 3 kids left. Was on the carpet with all the remaining ones watching it. Thankfully they were watching Paddington rather than all that YouTube shite that Americanises them and makes them behave like knobs.

Yes they put numberblocks on and it really pisses me off tbh because I think its brain rot and too fast paced like that saw patrol etc.

Numberblocks is one of the few shows that isn’t brain rot. It’s developed by the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics, and is closely linked to the National Curriculum.

So ive heard and that's so disappointing is that the best they can do? A fast paced bright coloured flashy graphic show with cult like chants and nasty characters that are little shits? I actually despise it. It is not allowed in my home. I teach my child maths without a screen, so should teachers.

Well, I teach in a special school and one of my pupils was struggling to identify numbers despite lots of tactics. I introduced the Numberblocks characters and he learned his numbers in a matter of weeks through pairing the character with the number on its head. He can now identify numbers without using the characters.

Number blocks is fab! My 9 year old was obsessed with it as a younger kid, watched it on repeat, we had the app. Throughout school, she’s worked beyond expectations at maths & is now doing Yr6 maths in Yr4. And I thank numberblocks whole heartedly for getting her interested in numbers!

Yes my experience was no TV until reception, when it starts being used to watch number blocks occasionally, or videos about the solar system, or live streams with children's poets etc.

I chose my child's nursery because there is one screen in the whole place which is used by the older kids very occasionally to support the sort of lessons they do in the year before they join school. Other nurseries were boasting about how they have ipads and stuff for even the small kids to use. We minimise screen time to a small amount of TV in the mornings during the week, none at all on weekends, and always supervised, so like hell was I sending him to a nursery where he would learn to swipe before he learnt to hold a crayon.

My youngest finished nursery last year, every day I picked him up they had the TV on playing YouTube videos. This TV was at toddler height in the main 'carpet area' linked to a laptop. Surprise! My now 5 year old still regularly asks to watch YouTube kids

There's not enough childcare spaces as it is. Some places people are putting their unborn child on nursery waiting lists in the hope they'll get a spot before mum's maternity leave runs out. Some people have to take what they can get, even when it's not ideal. Hopefully that place was only using it at the end of the day while waiting for parents to collect.

Mine didn't, but one local nursery was notorious for having TV on most of the time - they always said it was just for a couple minutes, when any parent turned up, but the kids grassed them up! That was the only nursery out of a dozen or so that had TVs - my kids did get song CDs played a fair bit, so plus side, learned the alphabet by 2, minus was learning nursery rhymes with very grating accents.

I would go crazy if I sent my kids to nursery and all they did was blink them in front of a TV its supposed to be about learning to share and make friends getting them better prepared for primary school not sesame lazy fecker can sit them in front of a screen and ignore them

I worked in nurseries, and screen time isn't something we do often. Never for babies, and rarely for toddlers. However they are a few staff members who would do screen time every day if they could.

Don't have kids but have worked in nurseries. In my experience there were no screens in the baby rooms. Screen time for 2 -4 year olds would be limited to under 10 mins (e.g an epsidode of number blocks) if there was any. Very normal to have no screens all day. Maybe something during home time again with the expectation that it would just be under 10 mins whilst waiting for parents.
