GSG-16 22LR German Sport Guns

I’ve already made some posts about this firearm, and I’d prefer that only people with personal experience with it reply.
In terms of overall build, does the polymer the GSG-16 is made of feel cheap or low quality? More importantly, does it suffer from frequent malfunctions or jams?
If you own a GSG16, how often would you say it jams per number of rounds fired, if at all? And if you’ve used the 110-round magazines, how reliable are they? Are they as reliable as the standard 22-round mags?
I’ve read that the 110-round magazines are reliable and that you can fire all 110 rounds without any jams if the magazine is relatively new.
Comments like “just buy a ruger” or similar don’t add anything to what I’m asking

I’m currently doing review testing on my GSG-16 I’ve got 2000 rnds through it… 1700 of which where with no cleaning or oil. I’m doing a deep clean of it on Sunday. Switching the furniture on it than running another 2500 rnds through it. I’ve already put 6000+ rnds through my polymer ruger 10/22. I can say from experience if you’re buying large quantities of bulk ammo there’s bound to be some duds. I can also say I had to clean the ruger every 900 rnds or it would have constant failures. The GSG was pretty good at just powering though it with some oil.

The drum jams 3-4 times each time you empty it
The barrel will heat up significantly in that time
The bolt is extremely difficult to disassemble so make sure you have an empty room with very good lighting to do it in. It’s actually kraut magic.
There’s a big steel weight in the handle to balance it
The rails are real cheap and plastic
There’s a guy called like Tommy tommydesigns I think in Canada that makes some pretty skookum parts to dress it up
Basically it’s cool if you don’t have a lot of guns but when you expand your collection it will just take up space on your safe.

Do you get 3–4 jams every time you run through a full 110-round drum? Does it happen with subsonic or high-velocity ammo?

Thank you for this write up. This gun but the “HK” version is on my list. I have a custom 10/22 already, I’ll just stick with that I suppose. It would most likely wind up a wall hanger if what you’re saying is true.

The gsg-522 is the same as the gsg-16 . Only difference is the size of the fuax suppressor. That being said I've never had any issues with the stick mag that comes with it . I also have the drum and that does have some loading and feeding issues as the rounds get stuck in the drum . I bought the firearm for my son when he was 8 and he is 17 now and it's still his favorite one to shoot.

The receiver is completely different, but internals may not have changed.

I have an original gsg5, I don't have a million rounds on it but I can't remember ever having a malfunction.
Paul Harrell used the 10/22 version of the drum in his .22 reliability test video, check for yourself but I think it functioned as well as everything else.

I have the 9” barrel GSG. It feels like any other plastic gun. Mine runs very well on CCI mini mags. As long as I am careful when loading it runs very well. Finding the correct ammo to run was the key in getting it to shoot without any issues.
