Update for anyone curious I just received it and it does not work for the TEMU clone. The threading is too small as someone stated you need the dual fuel body. The threading is just way too small on the TEMU clone…

Yeah I’ve put together a few (it’s quite easy as long as everything is compatible.
You’d need an arisaka 18650/18350 body for this. The dual fuel bodies (basically for 18650/18350 battery) have a wider diameter. Any well established brand like surefire, modlite, or arisaka should be good. Cloud also but i don’t know much about them.
So basically this will run off of an Arisaka 18650/18350 body, modlite 18650/18350, or surefire dual fuel body (scout DF/scout pro DF/dft) — altho if you get your hands on a dft you might as well just run that head because it has very similar specs.
Only to note is that the modlite heads are compatible with 18350s but not 1x cr123a. If you want to be able to run cr123a backup you need the 18650 body for 2x cr123a.
Honestly, I would buy the complete 18650 okwv2 light from rooftop for $279 (same code) to get the body, battery, and charger, and gas cap. It more than pays for the extra $110 you’re spending. You can easily sell the tail cap on gafs for $70+ and get whatever you want.

18650 bodies should generally be dual fuel compatible. However, the limiting factor is the head. you have to make sure the head is dual fuel compatible, which the newer modlites and surefires are. Some of modlites older heads are not I think.

Waiting for independent output and runtime tests on these. I'm skeptical that the new emitter (SFT25R) is meeting claimed output with the standard modlite battery and switch. Its a relatively high vF/high current emitter which is pushing the limits of typical batteries and switches.

I'm a flashlight enthusiast but never bought any Modlites, don't need THAT much sheer durability, leaving me with performance that can be easily exceeded for under $30. Are Modlites using modern drivers? The SFT-25R is more than capable of meeting those specs, it's a really impressive emitter.

The emitter definitely can meet the specs. Weltool already has a SFT25R head (LH8v2) that is rated for more output than the OKWv2. The difference is that they spec the light with a high drain battery and high current tailcap to minimize voltage sag.
I just want to see how long this head runs in regulation with an "ordinary" modlite assembly/battery/tailcap. If its only a minute or two then I'm not really interested, personally.

I just swapped my OKW for the Weltool LH8 V2 with their suggested battery, still using my Surefire DS00 tailcap. Would the DS00 limit the LH8 V2 output?

I actually have no experience with the DS00 tailcap, unfortunately. All my SF setups are running pretty low power heads, mainly Malkoff E1HTv2's.
How does the LH8 beam compare to the OKW? Is it significantly brighter?

I dropped my OKW one time on tile. It is now an intermittent strobe light. I have 4 other modlites and they’re fine, but on less used rifles. ☹️
