Transplants: What was your biggest culture shock?

I haven’t seen a transplant question in a few months so thought I’d ask one. What was your biggest culture shock about Dallas? For me, I grew up in a pretty unassuming place from flyver country. There was almost a pride in how gritty and working class our area was. There was also it felt like more tolerance for variance from the norm. Less judgmental attitudes because why bother. Go to the store in your pajamas. Fuck it! Here, if you come dressed poorly even going to a store you will get stared at and people might think your unhoused… Shoutout to places like Deep Ellum and Oak Cliff for being relative exceptions though. Note: Please please keep it civil ya’ll!
