All those bumps and fances. Looks like someone decided shortly before end of development to put on swing wings.I always red that fences are a sign of bad aerodynamics. Why are no naca style inlets ?
The fences are there to reduce span wise flow, pretty much any supersonic of this era will need them until the industry moved to thinner wings LEFs and washout.
There are other ways to reduce span wise flow that aren’t as obvious like Gurney flaps.
I ment the round ones above the engine. Man russian planes hav those pipe like ones around the hull in the engine area. I have never seen those on a western aircraft. I guess those are cooling inlets for some airflow to the engine bay but they look aerodynamically not that good. At least i cant remember thosein the west , there are only the naca stle ones
I mean, the Tomcat had what was basically more wing in the giant Phoenix-storing gap between the engines. Flogger also had a quite prominent “tennis court” that certainly didn’t hurt lift. (though not the size of one in the true Teen Series sense) I don’t think there’s ever been an aircraft that didn’t assist swing wings with big wing roots, a lifting body, or something similar. Maybe Tornado?
Which it basically was since it was developed from a fixed sweep wing Su-7. This way they were able to retain the original fuselage changing only the wings.

What would you use the inlet for?

I so badly want the su22 in dcs
Just more soviet stuff in general
Fluffy_Muffins_415@reddit
I want a variable-sweep wing, but I don't want to commit

AD-1 Oblique-wing demonstrator?

If I was being nitpicky I'd be very scrutinous of those extended and very planiform engine pylons, but just for the creativity:

Goes well with the two-part paint scheme
TaccRacc308@reddit
The only plane I know of that wasn't a swing wing from the start.
StephenHunterUK@reddit
Poland only retired these last year!
ExecutiveAvenger@reddit
I was lucky to see them twice before that. Such a brutal looking aircraft, one of my favorites.

I know M2 vs M3 vs M4 variants, but M4K?

Looks like something out of Yukikaze

I love the SU-22 Fitter, it's one of my favorite Soviet planes. It just has such a uniquely cool vibe to it.
Supercrown07@reddit
I wouldn’t say it’s a weird one but unique in the swing wing department
NathanArizona@reddit
It’s weird. That trailing edge is wild
igoryst@reddit
In both pictures that show it the flaps are deployed
NathanArizona@reddit
Great
Supercrown07@reddit
Oh definitely! It’s wing pylons are crazy!
ElkeKerman@reddit
That first one really looks like Kerbal to me, wicked
Thick_Pineapple8782@reddit
Must be a boss, it's wearing swingtips.
Zcube73@reddit
Superb cold war aircraft 👌
Panorabifle@reddit
What in the Ace combat is this ? It looks desarticulated
Jessie_C_2646@reddit
It's an SU-22, the export version of the SU-17.
Jessie_C_2646@reddit
The Polish camouflage makes it look so much different from the old Soviet colours.
teddyc88@reddit
Awesome, thanks for sharing this.

Wow what a unique looking aircraft!
