Palm Springs to Phoenix.

I bet the fifth wheel isn't jammed. Disconnect from the trailer and then try getting the sliding pins on the fifth wheel to release. The weight of that load isn't letting the pins retract
NewZJ@reddit
Supposed to lower the landing gear and keep cranking until the air bags start to release and then try sliding the 5th wheel.
Advanced_Ad6078@reddit
Yeah but that sucker is heavy, I'm not cranking it up if it's fully loaded. Far easier and less likely to hurt yourself doing it my way.
NewZJ@reddit
Crank it until the legs touch, switch to low speed, crank a few more, drop airbags
DukeBradford2@reddit
Its been so long since i had adjustable 5th wheel
Correct_Writer_3410@reddit
No, you should get it reworked or otherwise get the weights legal. Adjust fifth wheel and tandems accordingly then reweigh and repeat.
SashaDabinsky@reddit
You;ll burn up 60 lbs of fuel in no time.
Correct_Writer_3410@reddit
Over on tandems in CA? Bold
RectumRavager69@reddit
They'll probably let the gross weight slide and you'll likely not be over on your drives by the time you get to the weigh station but you're still gonna be 550-600 over on your trailer and that's gonna be where they get you. You really really need to find a way to slide that fifth wheel forward at least one notch. If the auto slide unlock/lock won't work then disconnect from your trailer, unlock the pins with the switch, then get out and go unlock it at the actual mechanism and if they still won't retract then beat the bastards back in with a screwdriver you don't like and a hammer. Then slide it forward a notch with a crowbar or whatever you have that'll do it, then lock it back in place however you have to.

Slide your 5th wheel up a hole or 2 and slide your trailer up 2 holes if you can
Due-Technician3715@reddit
No
deezkeys098@reddit
1 hole back and watch your fuel you should be good 👍
MR_6OUIJA6BOARD6@reddit (OP)
Did this and got no problems.

Edit:
Got to the window, was told they have to weigh me. Swung around the building to the scale, stopped on scale, was given a thumbs up and told to beat it. I have arrived at my destination. I did slide tandems one more hole over to kind of keep the weights balanced on tandems and drives.

As long as you are not involved in a fatality accident, you will probably avoid any prison time…
Healthier6908@reddit
I’d roll with it
BlackSC2us@reddit
Hey, I'm in Palm Springs at the moment too. Stay safe out there.
texasjackiedaytona@reddit
Burn fuel
familyedit@reddit
You'll be fine
EntireRace8780@reddit
I wouldn’t. If it were just the drive then I would but not with drives and trailer tandems.
Objective_Camp_3424@reddit
Never!
xoutlawtrucker@reddit
Once you burn about 120 gallons, thats

Edit
5th wheel jammed, can't adjust there.
SeaRow556@reddit
Is it jammed or just pinched locking mechanism?
I'd just crank that landing gear to get as much weight off the 5th wheel and makesure its unlocked then rock the truck back and forth. It may take a few minutes for it to breakfree. I'm assuming you already know this so sorry if it sounds a tad bit condescending. I've just seen so so many driver who don't even know how to slide tandems let alone that the 5th wheel can be adjusted. But i have faith in you. Good luck
Inside-Finish-2128@reddit
Time to get that fixed.
Vast-Yak-8713@reddit
Did you set your brakes? If you pop your brakes on and weigh, you can end up scaling 4 thousand pounds heavier than you actually weigh. Get on the scale again, turn engine off, put it in first gear, and release all brakes. And keep your foot off the brake pedal.
Pitiful-MobileGamer@reddit
Only send it on days that end with Y
Brumbie-74@reddit
Slide your tandems back 2 holes and run
Radiant_Swan187@reddit
Better learn where the weigh stations are
MR_6OUIJA6BOARD6@reddit (OP)
Only one, crossing into AZ at Blythe.
Lopsided_Beautiful_1@reddit
Yeah once you go into Arizona it’s only that port of entry , but after that no weigh stations going into phoenix
ladytruckingpro@reddit
If it's a short distance but I am not fond of taking chances. If you do, I hope it goes well.
