Does it help workers if I give companies good reviews?

Obviously as I live in 2026 I'm forever being asked for feedback by things like eBay sellers, delivery services, car hire outfits, taxi firms, cafes, etc etc If I give a service a positive review, does it ever benefit the people actually working there and doing the job, or does it only work the other way round, i.e. they get penalised for bad reviews?

In my company positive feedback for an individual can help said staff member to receive a £750 award. Providing KPI's are achieved of course.

I think Uber and Uber eats drivers are liable to get fired if they get too many bad reviews so whenever I use Uber or order an Uber eats then I will almost always give the driver a positive review unless they were genuinely rude or something. If the shop misses order notes and substitutes things that are completely different from what I originally ordered then I'll drop my review of the store from 5 stars down to 3 or 2 and then I always seem to get what I wanted the next time I order.

It does sometimes help them if you mention the person and branch by name. That way corporate offices can reward the people you actually met. Just saying "went to this place. Had a nice time" gives them nothing

I mean i know quite a few retail and fast food places will reward their staff if they are mentioned in a good review, before she retired my mum did a bit of parttime at primark and she was given a £25 voucher after she was mentioned a customer review.

I know for our company (water company) if you give us a WOW award we get the recognition, looks good on our monthly reviews and we’re entered into a draw to win a £25 voucher for the best ones.

It helps how the algorithm sorts them on the sites you review them on. Good for morale too, I guess since the only time most people leave a review is to complain.
