I got a trade-in Glock 17 with a ton of slide wear. I was worried about the internals, but inside looks like it fired maybe a few hundred rounds. It wasn't cleaned when I received it, but it barely needed to be. Couple of hot spots where powder/carbon gathered inside the slide but it was either meticulously maintained for most of its life or has (had, teehee) a very low round count.

Generally they’re not fired often, and wear is from holstering/unholstering plus what few rounds they shoot during annual firearm qualification tests. It’s absolutely a gamble though - unless you go to the store in person there’s no way to know if you’ll get the one that’s nearly brand new or the one where the guy trained every day and the weapon’s seen 10k rounds.

Entirely depends on the LE. My issued G17G5 looks good because I've been carrying a M&P2.0. I shoot it during quals because it's mandatory but it gets cleaned and put up.
On the flip side one of my buddies only has the department issued Glock because it's his only gun and he shoots it as much as he can afford

I bought a leo g17. The slide definitely had cosmetic wear and tear from reholstering, but the barrel had much less wear. The frame also had some wear. I sent the slide to Wager for an optic cut, and pistol looked brand new when I got it back.

I have a 2.0 with the hinge, but also have a newer one with the flatty.
I don't hate the actual trigger break on the hinge trigger. My issue is how far rearward the hinged trigger breaks. I have longer fingers and definitely prefer the length of pull on my 2.0 with the flatty.
I would be stoked to upgrade my other 2.0 with the flatty trigger for $50.

I watched a trigger replacement video on the m&p. It doesn't seem unlike pulling a Glock trigger assembly, which is a good thing.
I also have a 1.0 MP9C, as well as a 2.0 MP45, both of which, don't appear to be compatible with this OEM trigger upgrade. That's fine, but it would be sweet to drop a $50 OEM flatty into both of those.

You need to swap out the sear housing for that trigger to work.
You could pop the trigger show off it and use it with the original trigger bar, but it wouldn't be nearly as nice of a pull.

It depends on the department and the individual police officer. Some departments -- cough NYPD -- only require you to do the yearly qualifiers, which can lead to gun maker making special versions to make it harder, but not impossible for the officer to shoot his leg. Others will issue training ammo. And a third group requires them to keep on practicing weekly while not on duty: there was a group who required its officers to practice every working day, shooting 100 rounds of 357 Magnum off their revolvers.
Even then, some officers will train on their own even if that means buying their own ammo. Others have the "I am a cop, therefore I am an expert shooter and I do not need to waste time on the range"
