Looking for tips and hacks on cheaper flights
Posted by throwawayplzhelppp@reddit | Shoestring | View on Reddit | 21 comments
I promised my wife to plan a family trip, but everything is super expensive and time is running out, we agreed to go on May, I haven't planned shit. Any recommendations where to get some cheap flights from UK to Thailand or Vietnam? Also have a 3 and 6 year olds.

Fuel crisis aside, just check some cheap flight apps, you can find some goof family deals even. For Asia travels, just prepare for long draining flights. But I know some people traveling with babies all around the world, so maybe it'll workout

Yeah my wife's positive about the longer trips so I don't see big deal about this, out babies are very calm

Whats your budget and when are you coming back? If you're coming back before June you can probably find flights from uk to Asia for around 350gpb per person roundtrip

I think we will postpone the flight for a little later, but thank you I will look into that

We booked our Japan flights via an app called Trip, they were cheapest on that for some reason and you get credits to then reduce the cost of hotels & activities you also book on the app (assuming it still works like that)

I check it out thanks

Update - if you book the flights using Trip but through the Klarna app (you can still buy now you don’t have to pay later, just use Klarna as a third party) you can get up to 7% cash back as well 👍

Do you have a car?
Do a road trip to french mediteranean coast and a nice holidayhome there, maybe a finca with a private pool.
May is still off season but it's warm enough to enjoy the landscape and spend some time on the beach.
Or you could rent a camping van and explore the south of spain.
Traveling on your own pace is so much nicer for younger kids and honestly, with the current state of the middle east and the huge problems most south east asian countries already face due to oil shortage, I wouldn't take my family out of europe for vacation.
If you absolutely need to fly go to Canary Islands or check for Cap Verde or resorts in Ghana. That would have the advantage of not having to deal with cranky, jetlagged kiddos.

Skyscanner might have some flights but I don’t think you’ll get them cheap.

For the love of god, please don't take a 3 year old and a 6 year old on such a long flight.
This is a joke post, right?

Fuel prices have been pushing tickets up lately, so you’re not imagining it. Makes last minute long flights way more expensive than usual. Id try searching a few date combos and maybe split routes if needed. Try looking up Kiwi, Momondo and Google flights, some can show some cheaper airline combos, just double check timings and bags. Takes a bit more effort now but still possible to save.
