Teams and some versions of Outlook

I've had several calls about Outlook not opening. Turns out that the Teams add in was crashing it. FYI...I think an update broke it.

been seeing this too. the Teams Meeting Add-in for Outlook has been a pain point for months now tbh. usually happens after a Teams update pushes through but Outlook hasn't caught up yet quick fix that's worked for me: open Outlook in safe mode (outlook.exe /safe) go to File > Options > Add-ins > COM Add-ins and disable the Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in. restart normally & Outlook should open fine if users actually need the Teams integration u can try re-enabling it after a full restart or just wait for Microsoft to push a fix (which they usually do within a few days once enough people complain). sometimes uninstalling & reinstalling Teams helps too but thats more disruptive worth checking if Windows Updates are pending on those machines as well. ive noticed the Outlook crashes get worse when theres a mismatch between Office and Windows update cycles

For anyone who finds this thread looking for a fix. Here is what worked for us. 1. Update Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable to 14.50.35719 2. Delete or Rename MSVCP140.dll in \\program files\\Microsoft office\\root\\Office16\\ Or start outlook in safe mode and disable the teams meeting add-in.

EX1254044 has been running since 12th March for this issue.

Good, that confirms the Teams add-in is responsible for the crashes I'm experiencing as a user and that I'm not alone. I cannot disable the add-in from Outlook due to policies, and the workaround is to remove or rename the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\TeamsMeetingAddin folder before launching Outlook Classic.

That is interesting, a data issue causing it actually fits better with the times people call as it's not just as teams or outlook had updated.

Good news is that no one is going to be bugging you on Teams to fix it

Is it just my experience or did recent updates in windows and microsoft products break more stuff than they usually do?

Microsoft announced that like 60% of the updates are being written by AI, then coincidentally all their updates started breaking things.

Very unfortunate... If it continues that way it might be actually unusable within a few months or years

yeah, they've been fucking with exo a lot lately. Add ins are fucked. SUPPORTED versions of classic are broken in varied states. I told my boss the answer was Microsoft hates us and they want us to stop volume licensing machines and instead buy an e5 for every user even if half of them will log in once a year. Add in some Microslop coding and the fact that they treat my enterprise tenant like their dev environment and you have a perfect storm of everything being soggy wet shit.

I believe running the newest VC_redistx64.exe and windows desktop-runtime-6.0.36 will fix it.
