two days ago i made one just like it, i put some french fries inside the bun and a little mustard. it was worth it
nolemta@reddit
Choking hazard because of the dryness
Dr_Flyinghobbit@reddit
At least this easy to fix lol
cvtrain@reddit
Add a few more pickles and maybe some mustard and you've got a decent meal.

It's just so dry. But hey, if OP likes it then I love that for them.
free_use_4841@reddit
put cheese uunder the nuggets, add some mayo, ranch, and sriracha and it’s fucking divine
SomebodySuckMeee@reddit
Need some honey mustard on that bih
Dependent_Pain1110@reddit
I just need some bread now
SythnsSinceSins@reddit
This slaps, it’s comfort food.
Soulmighty@reddit
Ah yea I would be eating this too. Throw some bacon and a slice of cheese on top of the nuggets.
Remarkable_Fig1838@reddit
Melt some margarine or butter and add hot sauce for buffalo chicken very good make them all the time.
AlmostNerd9f@reddit
Just add Mayo and that's good eatin
hexadecimaldump@reddit
There is nothing warning with this.
I like to toast my bread, and add a bit of mayo, some cheese, and a bit of lettuce. But this is a perfectly acceptable chicken patty sandwich, just the ‘chicken patties’ are more bite sized.
ConstantSond@reddit
not bad
shyccubus@reddit
Somehow better than what you’d get anyway with the decline of fast food quality
rainbowmaan01@reddit
Ngl made this before. Better than it looks. Needs Mayo though
Jazart_deco1309@reddit
I’m going to make it!! 👌

No butter on the bread? Nor did ya toast the bread, uh ok!

Mayo and tomato. The god-tier flavor combo!
Sharp_Ad_6336@reddit
Don't forget the little drizzle of Sriracha
MissMerrimack@reddit
And some cheese! Cheese makes everything better.
Clt_princee@reddit
Yes!
verumvia@reddit
Adding a small amount of extra virgin olive oil to frozen breaded chicken makes it taste way better and actually improves its nutrition. If it's available at your grocery store, red leaf lettuce is healthy, cheap and tastes better than most types. Parsley is probably the cheapest herb/spice besides black pepper and pairs well with lower quality foods in general.
CommodoreCrowbar@reddit
Then take that bone, throw it some broth with some potatoes, and baby, we got a stew going.
ruinedmention@reddit
Op gonna choke it down
bokehbaka@reddit
If you want it to be like fast food you'd have to use a whole jar of mayo.
Video_Viking@reddit
Right!? OP is sitting on the edge of creating a poboy sammich snd threw it all away.
db720@reddit
Little pro tip i learned.... 2 eggs with about half a cup (125ml kinda) of oil (vege oil / canola) with a hand mixer. Start with half tge oil, keep the blender going, and top up with oil until mayonnaise. Blend in a bit of salt or pickle juice.
If you're on a budget, 10$ hand blender and egg+oil mayonnaise is gold

I don't blame you. I decided one day to order McDonald's delivery. (They're only 5 minutes away but I had my child and she was sleeping so I couldn't leave.) After fees and delivery charge, it was almost double my original price. Decided to make something at home instead.

tazztsim@reddit

TapeDeckSlick@reddit
Mayo is no substitute, you need both
tranqiepa@reddit
What??? Why would you lol. Unnecessary extra calories for totally nothing.
OneTimeYouths@reddit (OP)
Next time you are at chik fil a ask them to take off the butter
tranqiepa@reddit
No chic fil a in my country though. But okay I’m gonna try that once to see if it adds something then.
JoeyKino@reddit
Who butters a chicken sandwich?
TapeDeckSlick@reddit
The sandwich? Nobody probably, I'd butter the bread though lol
JoeyKino@reddit
WAIT A MINUTE, are you British?
TapeDeckSlick@reddit
JoeyKino@reddit
It all makes so much sense now... though apparently OP informs me that Chick-Fil-A does, indeed, butter their chicken sammys, so it's not totally unheard of around here.
TapeDeckSlick@reddit
I had no idea you guys didn't butter them, do you butter the bread on a normal sandwich?
Vallkyrie@reddit
I see no reason to butter a sandwich when I'm already applying mayo or mustard or some other kind of sauce.
KeenPro@reddit
Good salted butter can add shit load of flavour, spread it right up to the crusts and you get decent bites without having to risk your sauces squirting out everywhere when you eat.
Butter being fat can act as a bit of a barrier for the bread too so you can get some more wet fillings on there before your bread gets all rank and soggy.
Honestly, people not putting butter, or some sort of spread as a base (Cream cheese is fucking class), are doing themselves a disservice.
JoeyKino@reddit
If I'm eating a hot sandwich, I can see it, but the idea of just munching on some cold butter in my mouth makes me recoil a little, unless the volume of it is so low that, at that point, it's probably not contributing anything.
I also don't ever have salted butter for anything, or have rank, soggy bread when I throw a little mustard on there (seriously, what kind of bread are you eating?), so I'm really struggling with relating to your POV here...
On the other hand, my wife and I make Italian sandwiches with cream cheese that we season with some oregano, basil, and parmesan, and then add an extra little tiny splash of Italian dressing to the lettuce, tomato, and onion on it, and that is a DAMNED delicious sandwich, so you definitely have a point there.
KeenPro@reddit
This could apply to a lot of foods which you add little bits to enhance stuff. Chopped onion on a sarnie is amazing yet I'd be recoiling thinkinig of chomping some cold raw onion.
Not having salted butter may be why it makes you recoil too, unsalted butter is just tasteless goo..
As for the bread, Just the standard white bread.
As for the fillings, I wouldn't class mustard as wet, that would still fall under a spread category. Wet stuff would be things like Ragu or chilli, Ramen or any sort of pasta with a runny sauce. And you dont just chuck all the liquid on there, you'd use a straining spoon but the noodles and what not are still gona retain a lot of water.
If these sound like mental ideas, then it backs up my point you're doing yourself a disservice by not letting yourself explore a world of sanddwich just because you refuse to put a little bit of butter on your bread.
It could also be because I'm fairly baked and can't stop thinking about what sandwich to have.
I'm not sure what you're italian dressing is exactly but I'm guessing it's mostly olive oil, thats the perfect wet topping and your cream cheese is probably doing the work of the wet barrier.
JoeyKino@reddit
I'm sorry, but:
1 - raw onion is delicious, so I'm not sure we're going to come to terms here...
2 - what's a ragu to you? Are you talking about putting pasta sauce on a sandwich?
3 - what kind of chili are you talking about? I would usually assume it's not chili soup, except...
4 - hold the phone, because are you talking about putting ramen on a sandwich? Why would you even do that?
I'm going back to point 1 - we're most likely not going to come to terms on anything here. Y'all just throw anything on some bread and call it a sandwich, huh?
Also, though, I thought Europeans made fun of Americans because we ate shit bread, but you guys eat plain white bread, too? No wonder you need something for protection. Do you have sourdough there? That's significantly better, and requires no protection.
JoeyKino@reddit
It's not unheard of, at least according to Reddit, but it's definitely not the norm here, not like in the UK.
I had a babysitter when I was a kid who buttered our peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, and we thought that was the weirdest thing ever. She was very southern, and they love lots of butter in the south, so maybe it's more common there.
The thought of just eating straight-up butter kind of makes me gag a little. If I'm making a breakfast sandwich on toast that wouldn't normally have any other condiments and the butter is going to actually melt, then I'd probably toss a little butter on there.
vermiliondragon@reddit
Growing up, a friend was staying with his aunt who insisted on buttering the bread "so the mayo wouldn't make it soggy" for his school lunches no matter how many times he told her he didn't like it with both butter and mayo.
tazztsim@reddit
My mother butters every piece of bread she uses for sandwiches regardless of the sandwich.
It’s really gross.
Aluminum_Tarkus@reddit
Any place that toasts the buns, usually, which is most restaurants that sell a chicken sandwich for more than $5-6 a la carte
OneTimeYouths@reddit (OP)
I think the chik fil a ones do

its a bechamel with cheese melted into it, similar to what makes mac and cheese or nachos

callmebigley@reddit
this is like 90% the quality of a mcdonalds chicken sandwich and probably less than 1/4 the price. it doesn't look great but I call this a win. getting fast food delivered is never worth it.
buckeye25osu@reddit
Get a bottle of store brand hot sauce for about a dollar (cayenne, ie Franks if name brand), some butter, and ranch. Melt butter in a bowl in the microwave and add the hot sauce. 1:1 ratio to start and go from there. Toss those nuggets in the buffalo sauce, and drizzle the ranch on. I do this all the time when it's "nuggies" night or lunch for my kids (aka too tired to cook and the processed breast meat isn't the worst thing I could feed them).
fun-bucket@reddit
special sauce and chopped greens, you are all set.

turtyurt@reddit
This with a metric fuckton of honey mustard would slap
Zyphamon@reddit
Slap some red onion on it as well. Matter of fact, lets drag it through the garden with some romaine, some sort of peppers like green bell or banana or fresh jalapeno if you want more heat, and some tomato. If you're feeling Chicago you can replace the peppers with giardiniera.

Ranch, tomato and bacon and you're in flavor town
RangerEquivalent4120@reddit
Is mayonnaise an instrument (of moisture)?
mybluecathasballs@reddit
Kind of, at least for me. I don't like mayo, but it has its uses. I use it when I make burgers, for instance. I use just enough to seal the bread from the burger and toppings don't make the bun soggy.
I'll be real though, a place I frequent makes a burger roll (think stromboli, but with burger fillings). Mayo is the dipping sauce for that big bad mamma jamma. Outside of that, no. Just no.
Happy to hear other people's "no mayo, unless..."
Comprehensive-Try932@reddit
That's just a base layer holding the chicken to the bread so it doesn't escape.

Head_Doughnut_6049@reddit
Dude, cook some chicken breast in a pan on low with some butter until it hits internal temp of 165. Let it cool and slice it the add that to your sandwich. I’m sure it would still qualify as shitty food porn but at least you’re enjoying some quality chicken.
lchen12345@reddit
I used to do this with chicken tenders, much better texture. Plus brioche bun, pickles, and some chipotle mayo.
QueezyF@reddit
Pretty similar to what chicken tender joints like Cane’s do as a chicken sandwich. I’d probably prefer that to a chicken patty, honestly.
Epic_Tom_Fool@reddit
Would.
Matrinka@reddit
The breaded chicken breasts, in the red bag, at Aldi are fantastic for making a sammy at home. They're delicious. I also like to dice them up to make a chicken salad at home. If you get their crispy chicken nuggets (the chunks, not the formed ones) they taste enough like Chic-fil-et to not ever crave them again.
OneTimeYouths@reddit (OP)
Unfortunately these are the formed aldi ones. Mushy and wet. I don't like chik fil a nuggets
VincentClement1@reddit
Close enough.

Samuel_Alexander@reddit
Do you skip the milk with your cereal too? Sandpaper throat having MF.
Chinchilodon@reddit
That looks like jimmy john's bread. Is it?
OneTimeYouths@reddit (OP)
Martin's hoagie rolls
Bobby_Wavelord@reddit
Toast the bread open faced with a little bit of butter, salt, and pepper, and you my friend will have rescued yourself from the streets
CroissantCollective@reddit
Im stealing your recipe sir.
barbiesfrozenelbow@reddit
NGL, I love a nugget sandwich every now and then. I usually make them with dinos though.
poweredbynikeair@reddit
You gotta get that thang a little wet
therynosaur@reddit
Needs lubricant and you're onto something
UseYourNogginBrother@reddit
Let's be honest, you kind of half assed it. Toast the bun, sauce the nuggies, and add a slaw or vegetable of some sort. I thought this was u/strugglemeals at first.
Minute-Counter4155@reddit
I made a chicken burger exactly the same way today😂😂
miadiamondofficial@reddit
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Grow_away_420@reddit
Slap a kraft single on that thang and you're cookin
fermatajack@reddit
Is delivery a requirement to getting a chicken sandwich? I don't want to assume your situation, but you could go get one yourself sans delivery.
And if I've presumed too much, that's my bad.
OneTimeYouths@reddit (OP)
Husband and I are sharing a car. I live in agricultural land
fermatajack@reddit
Been there with the shared car issue, so I feel ya. I'd crush the sandwich regardless if a little sauce was added (maybe a buffalo ranch combo).
AmazingGrace911@reddit
OneTimeYouths@reddit (OP)
I can't find a bbq sauce I like
MrBootylove@reddit
Unless you live in Ohio you probably won't find it in local stores, but I've always been a big fan of Montgomery Inn barbecue sauce, which you can find online.
MuffinMatrix@reddit
Head Country and KC Masterpiece. Dinosaur BBQ is also great, though thinner.
Falkedup@reddit
Just found my new favorite. Stubbs Sweet and Sticky
AmazingGrace911@reddit
Try, try, and try again until you succeed.
I will probably get downvoted for this but I like Williamson’s Brothers, Sweet Baby Rays, and also Kroger thick and spicy
Fortitudious@reddit
looks good my guy, you did what you could with what you had
Critical-Afternoon37@reddit
Looks very dry. With mayo or mustard I'd crush it.
GRINDEDGEARS420@reddit
Yeah I refuse to pay delivery
tofuonplate@reddit
Looks more appetizing than whatever you tried to order
Glum-Supermarket1274@reddit
Considering the quality of bullshit beef/chicken paddy most fastfood places use. You are not far from the real thing by using chicken nuggets to be honest lol. What you are missing here is any type of sauce.
OneTimeYouths@reddit (OP)
I really wanted the popeyes sandwich, which is a real filet, but the craving was still satisfied.
Kile1047@reddit
i do this all the time, i dont add pickles though, i make a sauce with ketchup mayonnaise mustard and hot sauce
Due_Yam_3604@reddit
Butter toast those buns, Ed boy
secret_of_pseudonym@reddit
Yes. Chicken + pickles = shitty. Well done.
THEKaminsky@reddit
Burger King the chicken tender sandwich for years. This is just cutting out the middle man. Well done.
EuphoricScratch6915@reddit
I’d smash
Sea_Structure_8692@reddit
I’d make something like that when I was in college so I am ok with it. I highly recommend learning to cook though. I’m very proud of my chicken sarnies.
OneTimeYouths@reddit (OP)
I used to cook from scratch 😭 I just have a baby now. I have like 10 minutes to eat
Sea_Structure_8692@reddit
Oh I’ve been there.
0freelancer0@reddit
My pizza place sells chicken tender subs, put some more toppings on and this would just be a tiny version of that
DrNerdyTech87@reddit
And the problem is???
USSGoat@reddit
Home cooking seems alien to people now?
I pay for someone else to make food when I’m celebrating something or as an event.

Hamilton-Beckett@reddit
Yeah I was looking at getting delivery the other day and when I got to the end with the fees, delivery, taxes, and tip…plus the food it was damn near $40.
I made a ham sandwich.
CheddarCheesepuff@reddit
still better than cuck-fil-a
Fledermausmann69420@reddit
Some sauces and greens won't hurt you, you know.
rexifelis@reddit
That looks good dammit. I would eat that!
Equivalent-Glove7165@reddit
That’s what these dumps are serving you anyway at a ridiculous markup.
Gorilla1969@reddit
Eh, the quality of this is on par or better than most fast food chicken sandwiches. Add some mayo and BBQ sauce, and you're good to go.
Pale-Gift-273@reddit
Pretty much chikfila gang
YamiKokennin@reddit
add lettuce and tomato and you're golden (ketchup, mustard, and mayo too if you want that)
Lonelycub@reddit
I’d take this over fast food any day. Just add a slice of cheese and some mayo (toast the bread if you feel motivated) that’s a dang okay sammich.
MonthOk9907@reddit
I've never had to have food delivered. I guess I'm just not a fucking lazy ass most of the people in this country now.
OneTimeYouths@reddit (OP)
Whatever makes you feel better. I have a feeling you need this more than I do.
MonthOk9907@reddit
I bet you're too young to have been around when the first wave of food delivery companies all came out and went bankrupt.
WishICouldQuitU_97@reddit
What the fuck? It’s called “a treat.” You ok?
ytuux@reddit
JackyVeronica@reddit
You need mayo in your life 😜
InSearchOfTyrael@reddit
someone check on OP, they might still be choking
melahigh@reddit
Hell yeah this looks delicious and I will be copying
GuessWhoItsJosh@reddit
Throw some type sauce on 'em or at least some hot sauce and these will slap.
RedDiaper@reddit
Some sriracha and mayo and you’ve got a Popeye’s spicy chicken sandwich!
Have some kids ‘deliver’ it for the full delivery experience at home.
Fun for the whole family!
SirZestyWilleaux@reddit
At least put some sauce on it
StaticSystemShock@reddit
Absolutely nothing shitty about it. This looks fire. I like to go a bit more heavy on mayo or even better tartar sauce (and then you basically don't need pickles), but this would absolutely do it.
LateBrain7031@reddit
brother, a little sauce and chopped veggies won't kill you...
RogerRavvit88@reddit
Allow me to me a suggestion
Any-Requirement-3917@reddit
Dude, these go hard!
Jamesmateer100@reddit
Nuggie sandwich
dennisfisher95@reddit
Go to Aldi- go to the freezer isle, red bag chicken patties. Get you some burger buns ( steam them if you’re feeling fancy) make any of the sauces people mentioned or plain mayo mustard. Air fry that patty for 10-12 minutes. Grab any other fixings and you have a sandwich that makes chicfila cry
FrostingAvailable629@reddit
Add condiment and I see nothing wrong
Noxton@reddit
Literally just finished a nugget sando myself. Nicely done.
OneTimeYouths@reddit (OP)
There's handfulls of us nugget sando artists.
Deep-Repeat1021@reddit
as a chicken patty lover, but for someone who has chicken nuggies in the freezer all the time.........why have I not thought of this?
OneTimeYouths@reddit (OP)
Yes I always have nuggets on hand for my stepdaughter. So when we have nothing else we have this and bread.
Mecha_Cthulhu@reddit
Walmart has some bagged Great Value Famous Chicken Bites that are legit better than anything I’ve gotten from a restaurant. I like to cook a few in the airfryer, toss them in buffalo or some kind of hot sauce, then throw them in some French bread with shredded lettuce. The bag is kinda pricy, I want to say $15, but it lasts and it’s worth every penny.
zombiskunk@reddit
Sauce or other condiments will revolutionize your sandwiches.
MuffinMatrix@reddit
You know you could make chicken cutlets yourself too
OneTimeYouths@reddit (OP)
I used to cook from scratch, until I had a baby 😭 I do make a big pot of something on the weekend but during the week its a dizzying need tonrat anything
MuffinMatrix@reddit
I have the opposite issue... I make a lot of stuff, but toddler won't eat much of anything. So its always experimenting to see what he'll actually want to eat a bunch of.
OneTimeYouths@reddit (OP)
My baby is only 5 months but once he's sitting I hope to get some time back and make him all homemade everything and hopefully never knows of my trashfood ways.
meowmeoowwww@reddit
I mean it's not that bad
consumeshroomz@reddit
Throw some damn hot sauce on there or something! What I would do is make a spicy mayo aioli.
Snow-Roller@reddit
Some melted cheese, some mayo, maybe a little mustard and you’ve got a yummy sandwich... You’d spend $15 for the equivalent at a restaurant.
Aversnusen@reddit
Coleslaw would go hard on this
FondleGanoosh438@reddit
Double or even triple the mayo to get the real McDonald’s experience
Allenrw81@reddit
I would eat the hell out of that.
Shabingly@reddit
I do same with chicken goujons tbh, just a bit of dirty cheese and mayo and/or hot sauce.
Far-Poet1419@reddit
Spicy thousand island on that would be bomb.
FrykiTyki@reddit
That looks good ngl
Ok_Maintenance7326@reddit
If it had some kind of sauce that would be fine.
Fit-Narwhal-3989@reddit
Careful - those pickles may add a bit of moisture to your dry sandwich.
MoOnmadnessss@reddit
Mayo or chick fil a sauce and good to go
assorted_chalks@reddit
There’s a hell of a lot more you could be doing here with very little effort
420oompa-loompa@reddit
Holy crap, same thing I had for dinner last night. Aren't you fancy with your hotdog bun? I just had a slice of bread and the heel to make mine with.
misterfluffykitty@reddit
Add some sauce 😭
tonebone85@reddit
Would a little toasted buttery bun kill ya. Dry on Dry i suppose.

Ketchup, onions.
Honestly, wrap it in deli paper and foil wrap before eating. It makes the sandwich hit harder.

Not far off from the chicken sandwiches Mary Brown's (Canadian) has.

Aldi, don't recommend. They are weirdly wet inside
boyalien0@reddit
One word: Mayo
Shot-Associate4472@reddit
Looks like a meal from my junior high school cafeteria.
Jagermeister4@reddit
I made a fish stick sandwich the other day that looked liked this lol.
I learned theres no need for the bread. Stuff like fish sticks and chicken nuggets have enough breading that you are hurting the bread to meat ratio by adding bread. Chicken nuggets and fish sticks by themselves is the way to go.
MuscularSturgeon@reddit
I hate frozen nuggets so much
OneTimeYouths@reddit (OP)
Protein filled yoga mat

Let me try…
Pool inflatable filled with sawdust glue
pixienightingale@reddit
Open bake those nugs and oven toast the bread and you could charge 25$ on a kids menu.
superAK907@reddit
Hey you can very easily make a very good chicken sandwich a home! Frozen patty done in the air fryer, butter your favorite kind of bun and throw it in there for the last 2-3 minutes. Mayo, some kinda mustard, pickle, lettuce. Boom
CompetitiveRub9780@reddit
You don’t even have enough pickles for every bite bruv. Or mayo. At least do that much 😭
OneTimeYouths@reddit (OP)
I totally should have added more pickles
jraymcmurray@reddit
Don't let the folks over at r/grilledcheese see this. They'll certainly say, "that's not a grilled cheese."
Georgeygerbil@reddit
Bro out here affording hot dog buns instead of regular sliced bread. No need to flex, bro.

wtf is this op some shit posting? why would anyone get a chicken sanwich delivered to them when they have some at home????? what?
OneTimeYouths@reddit (OP)
Because I didn't know how long my baby's nap was gonna go and the coffee was taking hold.
BunnyLady91@reddit
Looks better than delivery. You can tell someone didn’t eat half of your chicken.
HotHits630@reddit

TheMaveCan@reddit
Butter up that bread and throw some coleslaw on it and I'll take 4
jazzbot247@reddit
The girl from Dollar Tree Dinners turned me on to the Mega brand chicken patties in the black bag. She was doing a Chik Fil a sandwich dupe. They are really decent and available at Walmart
JollyBananaWizard@reddit
your bed some lettuce and mayo, and hot sauce.
PlayDontObserve@reddit

Iron_Cowboy_@reddit
Where are you getting a chicken sandwich delivered from that has crazy prices?
Why would you even get a chicken sandwich delivered?
I do not understand this DoorDash/Uber Eats for everything culture. Such a giant waste of money
OneTimeYouths@reddit (OP)
I live in agricultural land. Also my baby just woke up from a 2 hour 10 minute contact nap. Anyway I haven't ordered delivery in forever. I look at it to give me ideas
CRK_76@reddit
This is funny and true at the same time.
milkywayrealestate@reddit
A bit more sauce (I think I see the ghost of mayo on the bottom bun?) and toasting the bread would really take this out of the sub
OneTimeYouths@reddit (OP)
The ghost of mayo ☠️
hiiambv917@reddit
They sell Chic-fil-a sauce at Food 4 Less, a whole bottle, just like Ketchup! It’s about $5-6 dollars I think, it’s probably a good investment for times like this.
OneTimeYouths@reddit (OP)
I have a packet in my condiment drawe. I was trying to recreate the popeyes one lol
TraditionAcademic968@reddit
Could do something with this. Go fancy with it tost the bread and add some marinara sauce and cheese = chicken parm
OneTimeYouths@reddit (OP)
I have been using nuggets as chicken parm for a long time
