Does anyone happen to know who this plane belongs to? It's been docked in the LAX private jet lot for the past two days.

The two things I look forward to on my commute home from work are driving along the coast through El Segundo/ Manhattan Beach and passing the private jet lot at LAX. I think it's cool to see the different planes from sporting teams in town, or wealthy people stopping by for whatever reason.
This plane caught my eye the last two days, so I was curious to see if anyone happened to know who it belonged to. I also see a plane that is similar in size to one that says “Qatar” on it once in a while. It seems a little big for one person, but I was wondering if anyone knew the story behind this plane and or large planes like this that might be docked here from time to time.

With the situation in the Gulf, this is from Bahrain and probably parked here for safe keeping.
Currently some countries around Saudi are operating their airlines from Central Saudi (Riyadh) which is deemed safer than the Persian Gulf.
thechangboy@reddit
Actually LAX is very expensive to be used randomly as a safe harbour. Some of the royal children also attend university in the area, it came to drop the entourage and then they decided just to leave it here as that is safer than Manama.
Sevisstillonkashyyyk@reddit
In fairness the King of Bahrain is so obscenely rich parking fees at LAX are meaningless to him.

Plus with the increased price of oil he’s making even more BANK than ever before n
afwaller@reddit
given the closure of the strait of hormuz I would say he is not making "more bank" yet, as the oil is mostly likely sitting stuck waiting inside. I know there are some alternate distribution methods and a pipeline, but I'm not fully aware how those are all connected and to which countries they are available.
Alfalfa-Boring@reddit
Saudis make a lot of money from oil, don't get me wrong, but after several generations of oil money the Saudis make FAR more money in investments than they do oil. Like a LOT more.

I thought all their investments were shit.

And this is the gas price paradox. Even pre-conflict gas goes up.

It’s not. It’s called supply and demand. Prices have to go up even for existing products otherwise they’ll run out of supply soon.

Lmao it's a cute story. If you think they actually have the capability of striking LA with a drone I've got a bridge to sell you 😉
ReasonableGarbage924@reddit
Surely it depends on where they start from?
Unclesam1313@reddit
Of course it does. But where is Iran going to launch a drone from to reach California? Even the most generous rage estimates of 4000 km max mean they would have to be closer than Hawaii. You couldn’t even get that from new York to LA.
ReasonableGarbage924@reddit
How about from outside the fence?
Unclesam1313@reddit
I think you misunderstand what we mean by drone. This is not your hobby store quadcopter- these things are small aircraft. They’re not being smuggled in and launched from us soil.
hughk@reddit
You do realise that drone ops in Ukraine started with limited-range retail systems that were modified to carry small explosive charges?
ReasonableGarbage924@reddit
A drone is a drone.
consentualcunteater@reddit
Yes, my DJI is totally the same thing as a Shahed drone lmao.
ReasonableGarbage924@reddit
Strap a small IED to it and all of a sudden that Bahraini 747 has a small hole in it.
consentualcunteater@reddit

Vegetable_Research61@reddit
Or just have sleeper cells ready to activate in the US. it’s not that hard. I’m sure Iran has boots on the ground undercover within California already and has for years. Would not be logistically difficult to pull off at all in my opinion but we always act shocked and like it’s a world disaster when they do. North America is not invincible
Affectionate_Fly1918@reddit
From a boat offshore
Unclesam1313@reddit
Iran simply does not have the naval capability to get a vessel capable of launching drones (or frankly, any vessel) within range. They would be blown out of the water by the us Navy or Air Force thousands of miles before.
There are lots of reasons to dislike this war (believe me, I’m not fan). But risk of direct Iranian military strikes on the mainland are not one of them. We’re far more likely to be struck by a terrorist attack, especially with the revolving door of clowns currently leading the various agencies responsible for preventing that. Thats what keeps me up at night.
consentualcunteater@reddit
Like they won't get blown out of the water lol. Please.
consentualcunteater@reddit
Do you think they'd be able to get a drone close to LA somehow?
ReasonableGarbage924@reddit
Drones have regularly disrupted operations at major airports around the world. What's different about LAX? Does it have an anti aircraft battery deployed?
haarschmuck@reddit
Yeah, little drones that you can buy at the store.
Not actual military drones.
consentualcunteater@reddit
Military drones and civilian drones aren't the same thing. Give me one airport in the US that's had ops disrupted by military drones.
Electrical-Airline81@reddit
Not agreeing with any of this whole argument, but... that has happened. https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/world/588929/us-military-faa-plan-joint-test-of-lasers-designed-to-shoot-down-drones
US military tested drones and anti-drone stuff in Texas and shut down El-Paso once or twice
ReasonableGarbage924@reddit
It doesn't need to be a military drone.
consentualcunteater@reddit
Lmao so....there's zero threat then. Got it.
ReasonableGarbage924@reddit
Except from Abdul the Terrorist with his home made drone of course
consentualcunteater@reddit
It's a very cute idea. I'll give you that.
CivilianAsset@reddit
That’s adorable that they made that threat.
But in all reality ask yourself. Can Iran really get their drones over to California? If so, how?
chiniwini@reddit
Iran doesn't need to bring drones to the US. They just need to give order to a sleeping cell to go buy a bunch from Walmart, staple some explosives on top of them, and drive to the airport.
Or find some random moron on Telegram that will do it for $500, like Russia has been doing in Europe for the past years.

Well, Ukraine used a truck, loaded with drones, drove it deep down into Russian territory and attacked from inside. Iran COULD use a boat, load it with drones, and anchor off the coast of California….theoretically
DietCherrySoda@reddit
Or activate a sleeper cell of agents who live in the U.S., or people with other passports visiting, who are smuggled or assemble their own drones. You know, terrorism, the thing that this state has been frequently accused of sponsoring.

Crazy__Donkey@reddit
god damn reddit.
people here a reading comprehension of a 6 y/o (and i'm pointing to thios who downvoted me).
LA is a safe place for that plane, much like new york, london, bangkok, mumbai or even cairo, that are MUCH closer to bahrain....
Working_Beautiful244@reddit
I gotta reply cause it’s not an issue of our reading comprehension; the real issue is your terrible writing and self-contradictory logic. In other words, the issue is your own comprehension and writing ability.
In your orginal comment, the overall sarcastic tone, the “what a [~]…” expression which is commonly used to connote a degree of incredulity in regard to what follows, and the deprecating emoji would all be reasonably used to infer that you view LA as actually NOT being a particularly safe place, YET still being chosen as a “safe” place, due to the irregular state of the world (hence, “what a world”).
Then, when u/consentualcunteater follows that logical thread by questioning you about LAX’s vulnerability to missile attack, you immediately contradict yourself by rejecting that user’s logical reply. If perhaps you sincerely believed that LA is indeed a safe place in the world for that plane, then you shouldn’t have used that sentence construction and sarcastic tone in your original comment.
Then, in your next reply, you finally reveal that you do indeed believe that “LA is a safe place for that plane”. So, your original comment was poorly written; you actually wrote the opposite of what you mean.
Finally, in that same, third comment of yours, you introduce the topic of distance by comparing LA to five other cities and capitalizing “MUCH” to describe “closer”. This stylistic choice, along with the fact that you choose to conclude your critical comment with it, reasonably leads the reader to infer that you believe the variable of distance from Bahrain is an important reason for why the choice of LA is strange. If that is indeed the case, then you should have drawn attention to that in your original comment, rather than only mentioning safety.
Your ability to express yourself in writing is subpar, not our comprehension. Though I’m of the mind to forgive you, since a quick review of your recent dozen or so comments reveal that English is not a native language.

Generally speaking (assuming you’re traveling with less than like 8-10 people) you’d be more comfortable and arrive much quicker traveling on a large-cabin private jet than you would flying on this.
tpa338829@reddit
Yeah, I was confused on why people would drop $100M on a G700 when they could have a bigger B737 of A321 for about the same price,
Well, it turns out, when you design a plan to be a private jet from a clean sheet, it’s better a being a private jet.
The G700 may be smaller but it can transport you across oceans at the edge of the speed of sound all with bigger windows than any airliner and the cabin pressurized to 2500 ft (comp to 8K or 6K).

homer-price@reddit
Is airplane parking the same as car parking? Are they charge for 15 minute increments or charged for a full hour for using portion of 1 hour?
69stanglover@reddit
The pilots just enter the tail number in the parking app on their phone and can choose how much time they need. Then it notifies them when their parking is about to expire.
