Can you talk me out of buying a 2018 Ford Fusion Sport?

It appears to be the ultimate sleeper with the 2.7t. I assume it gets appalling gas mileage. But how's the rest? Reliable? Turbo failures? Active dampers cost 4300 to replace?

Get the 3.5L twin turbo Taurus sho instead if you like the 2018 fords.

Sounds like it's a no to the fusion sport and an auto tempest search for the Taurus SHO. I bought my VW GLI after sending a message to the dealership that had the model and spec I was looking for over auto tempest. Good luck and cheers!

I had a shit experience. I bought a 2017 Fusion Sport with 18,000 miles on. 1000 miles later the transmission went out. Then after I got it back 1 month later it had a fire under the hood and fucked up a large portion of the harness. My experience is not typical though. But it is what happened to my car. That being said that car with a good tune would have been very fun. Nobody sees them coming. Unleashed sells a tune that wakes that car up a lot.

Saw one on a lot, test drive it on a whim. Was an absolute hoot. Looked up a few tunes that added around 80hp/tq conservatively on pump gas and stock everything. Realized you'd be sitting on a generic sedan with 400+ hp/tq. It was also at the time of peak SUV introduction, so they're weirdly cheap. This one had 40k miles and was $19k. Bad ideas started forming...

I liked mine. After the 2nd transmission it would have probably been fine but my ex wife wouldn't set foot in it after the fire so I sold it for a RAV4......that was probably the most boring car I have ever owned. Then I sold that for a Kona N. Those are fun as hell. And relatively cheap. Now I have an Edge ST. It has the same engine as the Fusion Sport but 2 more gears in the transmission. So I made my way back to a 2.7 TT. I love the engine and drive train, even in a vehicle this big it makes it feel smaller than it is.

Yeah, I started looking at the Lincoln MKX (I think, I hate random letter models) and it has the 2.7t. And because it's ugly as sin (I'm driving it, I don't have to look at it!) it can also be picked up weirdly cheap. I'm 40. I'd like something quick that can make me smile, but otherwise looks like a boring car I can cart my kid around in. I have a Forester. Wife has a Rogue. They are both so mind numbingly boring...

There’s a very good chance the 2.7 Ecoboost in it has a wet belt driven oil pump. While a lot of folks haven’t had a problem with that system, there’s just too much risk that the belt either can or is coming apart and the debris is clogging up the oil pickup. When that happens, oil starvation happens and you’d be looking at a new engine.
