There are a number of cars with non-reusable plastic drain plugs. No shop is going to want to re-use a plug when the manufacturer demands they not be reused - they're just taking liability on. What make, model and year is the car?

I mean idk why’d they charge your for a drain plug. You can reuse those. Everything else is pretty standard tho

Yea i called and asked for a price check as if price shopping and the receptionist confirmed it.  But i went there before and they never charged for that stuff. Plus no antifreeze check or much else.  Time to make friends with mechanic and just give him the money

Every shop is charging you for oil filter and changing it. It might not have been itemized before if you had a coupon or they were running a flat rate special or something... But they were charging you for it.  Drain plug, that gasket like any gasket starts to go bad.  It's completely normal to get the plug with the gasket.  Otherwise they have to go fishing through a bunch of gaskets, which takes time they are going to charge you for... So you end up paying $12 either way

Yeah, tbh tho if they weren’t changing the filter and gasket that’s kinda sus. The gasket should be less than a dollar but filters are anywhere from like ~10$-25$. You don’t really need to change the filter every time but you should and at the very least every other time.
