Anyone know if it's possible to still rent these? I see the bikes are still in the stands but attempted to rent at the weekend with no luck.
Downloaded the next bike app. Went to search for Milton Keynes and it wasn't listed.

you need the Dott app according to the Santander website

I was going to see if the Dott app would let me unlock a Santander bike but I can't even find a bike. The racks at the station and in front of Santander bank are empty.

I think these are the e-bikes? I'm talking about the normal bikes you see on stands for example outside the Leonardo Hotel at the hub.

i dont know as i dont use it but im just looking at the official site. Im not sure why you are using nextbike
DisciplineOrdinary66@reddit
Because nextbike administer(ed?) the pedal powered Santander cycles since inception

things change. nextbike was managed by tier, tier is now Dott.. If you go to http://www.nextbike.co.uk it takes you to their german site. Same as all the app downloads. All german.

Right and the bikes still don't show up in the Dott up either - so the question remains

I had another quick look when I walked up to the Centre yesterday. I'm pretty sure these are dead for now, the bikes look like they haven't moved for ages and there's only a couple in each stand. Also can't remember seeing anyone riding one for ages.
A shame imo, hope they come back.

Yeah just had a wander around at lunch and I think that's the end of them. The stands have all gone at the station too. What a shame

The manual Santander bikes used to be rentable through nextbike.

Who actually uses them? I rented one on three or four occasions last year so I could put the kids’ bikes in the car and ride around with them, but that’s a bit of a niche. Isn’t everyone on the scooters now?
dragonb2992@reddit
They used to be great to get from the shopping centre to the train station because it was complr downhill.

I guess the answer is no one does hence them being shut down.
They appealed to me because the scooters/ebikes are pretty expensive to hire for more than a few mins.

Looks like getting ready for a new launch on the bike front
DisciplineOrdinary66@reddit
Still no mention of the Santander bikes in there though. Would be a real shame if they're discontinued
cooperca45@reddit (OP)
Now I've seen them I can't unsee them. There's so much infrastructure for the Santander bikes it's such a waste.
DisciplineOrdinary66@reddit
I was wondering the same - I've still got MK in the app but none of the stands are visible any more
cooperca45@reddit (OP)
interesting, I can't even see MK
