If you don't wear glasses, do you still get an eye test done?

Strangely, once every couple of years. It makes no difference if your eye-sight's "great" or not, opticians don't just check for focus - glaucoma and macular degeneration can start in your 40s, so getting into the habit of a regular eye test isn't a bad move to make. They can also pick up on the early signs of diabetes. Irrespective of your current vision, with age you are going to develop long sightedness - that's needing glasses for reading. It's probably not that much a pressing issue right now, but everyone's eyes develop this way with advancing years - it's just biology. Your eyes gradually change shape, resulting in the light hitting your retina gradually stops being focused on the right spot, instead it gets focused somewhere behind where your retina is, making doom-scrolling and reddit an increasingly arm's reach affair, which is called *presbyopia*, in case you're interested. The last thing is floaters. Your eyes' are filled with two fluids - one relatively watery, the other thick and jelly-like, these are called, respectively the aqueous and vitreous humours. When you're younger these stay nice and well defined, one toward the back of your eye - the thicker *vitreous* humor - and the other more fluid (aqueous) humour toward the front but, over time, they become increasingly mixed together simply just down to movement and - where mixed - we start seeing these floaty, wispy blobs lazily doing the back crawl across your vision and settling right in the middle every time you've you're eyes. They're generally not a problem and most people deal with them fine but, every so often a floater can get too close to the back of your eye and hit you're retina. That you experience as a bright flash, if unattended it can possibly cause damage and, preferably before that happens, steps can be taken to reduce their occurrence. Anyway, that's ample reasons why getting your eyes checked regularly isn't a bad idea, absolutely if you drive you should. Changes in vision generally creep up on you gradually and you don't actually notice, you simply adjust and carry on. That's fine for most things but for flying an A10 Airbus, probably not something you should not get checked - most especially since both are *entirely* different aircraft...
