I really hope the next corvette gets rid of the cockpit idea and makes the car less of a Temu ferrarri, its a little too absurd looking. it looks like the kind of car a game designs so that they don't get sued for using the same model as a ferrari or a lambo
honeyroastedbbq@reddit
Corvettes scream fake Rolex and Invicta buyers. Give me a Type R or a Miata any day.
Ok_List_712@reddit
You probably don't have money for either. Go hang out at the dollar store.
honeyroastedbbq@reddit
The Corvettes are $55–60K used. The fact that the owners are so delusional as to believe their cars are worth six figures just proves my point about how goofball most of these guys are.
Quatro_Leches@reddit
lol. the responses to my comment prove that. buncha angry beer gut middle aged white men
Ok_List_712@reddit
90's audi boy with aftermarket vassani wheels.
MIGMOmusic@reddit
Lmao ok buddy, I’ll get a slow car instead because I’m afraid of judgement from 16 year olds who are obsessed with image. Oh wait, no, I don’t care in the slightest, I’ll take the engineering masterpiece thank you very much. I own a Miata, and I would definitely keep it if I got a c8, cause they’re so different and the Miata would be more fun on the road. But at the track? Cars are not watches, performance actually matters. You sound very pretentious to me.
Averylarrychristmas@reddit
God damn little buddy you sound bitter as hell.
Corvettes have always looked aggressive beyond the average car, and they have all the way back to the C3.
And the “cockpit idea” has been present in multiple cars for multiple generations.
Where does the anger come from?
Ok_List_712@reddit
He's poor.
Quatro_Leches@reddit
what makes you say am angry?
Ok_List_712@reddit
Translation. "I don't actually know what ferraris or Lamborghinis look like on the inside and I can only afford a Subaru BRZ"
The_Exia@reddit
You sound exactly like the 50+ year old men you're shitting on. Old car good, new car bad.
The old Corvette interiors were garbage pre C7. Even the C7 isn't that much better since it was developed out of bankruptcy but it is a noticeable improvement despite still having a lot of plastic.
The C8 had a huge leap on the interior with actual money put forward for development. The cockpit vibe has been a thing for sports car interiors for decades.
Corvette has seen a large buyer age drop with the C8 due to its profile.
If you get rid of the cockpit the interior will look like a Chevy Equinox because everything these days has the same interior. Two or one giant screen and the same layout.
At least the Corvette interior looks different from every other GM interior. Look at the Blackwing interior, high performance car but the interior is identical to any other Cadillac. That doesn't sell, you need something unique when your talking Corvette thats still functional, its marketing, it needs to look different to sell.
The Corvette has always been the Halo GM product and the last 10 years have shown GM tries to make it look different from the rest of their portfolio because it gets people in the door.
nihil8r@reddit
why so many downvotes? temu ferrari is hilarious, and as an almost 50 year old man the c8 is a super attractive as a "budget" sports/supercar...
Ihate_reddit_app@reddit
Which Ferrari has a cockpit style interior? Have you looked at a Ferrari recently? They typically have no generic open interiors.
The c8 interior looks nothing like a Ferrari interior. If you look at the lineage of the C5-C8 Corvette's, you can see the natural progression of the interior to be driver centric.
THXFLS@reddit
Further back than that even. C8 and especially C7 take heavy inspiration from the facelifted C4 interior.
Ihate_reddit_app@reddit
Yes! You are definitely right and I kinda forget about the C4 since you don't see them much around me. I should brush up on my Corvette knowledge since I have a C8!
EfficientTourist7480@reddit
26 removed the wall of buttons so it’s a bit less “cockpit”
Ferrarisimo@reddit
No word on a potential Tremec manual transmission for the Grand Sport?
BooRadleysreddit@reddit
I don't believe we'll see a manual in the C8
LVsFINEST@reddit
Tremec announced in October that they have a new manual transaxle that has the same exact bolt pattern as the automatic transaxle used in the c8. While it could be strictly for aftermarket, I feel there is a possibility that GM could use it from the factory. Tremec rates the new manual at 1000hp/800 ft lbs, so the zr1 exceeds that by a slight margin, but totally doable in a zo6 or lower c8 models.
Bau5_Sau5@reddit
That doesn’t matter at all.
Chevy isn’t putting it in the c8 , already stated and confirmed with their product line.
Sure it works and after market there will be market.
The_Exia@reddit
GM hasn't confirmed anything. They haven't even confirmed these Grand Sport rumours, they definitely haven't confirmed no manual transmission. GM doesn't confirm product lines, they make announcements for future products otherwise its business as usual.
Will it happen for the C8? Probably not, I'm expecting C9.
HoldingForGenova@reddit
This was always an aftermarket product, and was clear from the announcement that it was never going to be a factory option.
Hnry_Dvd_Thr_Awy@reddit
Feels like a slop article. Is the new engine going to be called the LS6? Is it 6.7L? I know they've said 5.7. I thought it was going to be a 5.7 and a 6.6, but this article says 6.7?
Regardless unless it comes with a solid valve train I don't want it out of warranty.
EfficientTourist7480@reddit
Six seven motor 🗣️🗣️🗣️
komrobert@reddit
Why would they go back from LT to LS naming? Seems really unlikely to me, but it’s GM so 🤷♂️
4r4r4real@reddit
? They've gone back and forth like 8 times lol. They re-use the same exact engine names every couple decades. Like, the LT1 they introduced with the C7 was the third time they've used LT1.
komrobert@reddit
You’re right. I hated that LT-LS-LT switch C4 to C7 lol. Is the new engine going to be port injected? That could be interesting, maybe they can make the Tremec manual happen too?
J_NonServiam@reddit
Dual injection maybe? There's a lot of benefits to specific output with high compression dual injection engines.
thisisjustascreename@reddit
They used LT-1, 4 and 5 during the C4 generation, why did they go back to it?
1969Malibu@reddit
Was also LS and LT coded engines in the 70s.
a49991@reddit
Because LS = Port injection (Current) LT = Direct injection
MoneyPitAuto@reddit
The base Stingray will also get the 6.7L or I will eat my hat.
taticalgoose@reddit
Yeah I'd be shocked if they made a different motor for the base car and GS. GM doesn't have a history of doing that.
badcrass@reddit
LS 99! The last best one. 9.9 liter twin turbo 1500hp, warranty is only good for 500 miles. Break in is 1000 miles so warranty expires before you can go WOT.
StrikeouTX@reddit
GM is the sloppy one. Too many variants for sure
DooceBigalo@reddit
theres a video there explaining everything
Dirtydog693@reddit
Yeah I mean for a start, and I’m not a huge Corvette guy, but I thought the C8 had the LT engine in it. Wouldn’t it be a huge re-design and a step backwards in philosophy to go to an LS platform mid-life? Isn’t the LS more proven and reliable but the LT platform is more modern and high tech?
PhoenixC101@reddit
Can’t wait for everyone to talk about how amazing the GS hybrid is, how it’s the perfect corvette, blah, blah blah… it will be the same people currently hating on the Eray…
firewoodrack@reddit
I fucking knew the E-Ray would become the Grand Sport. I hope this comes to fruition, not that I'm biased towards grand sports lol
taticalgoose@reddit
Article says what I've been assuming all along which is that the new 6.7l will go in the base car and the Grand Sport. Not sure about the earlier cars but at least since the C4 the GS has never gotten unique displacement so it's unlikely they'd change that for the C8. Assuming that's correct, the new motor going in the base car is bigger news than the GS since that'll be the volume seller.
xselimbradleyx@reddit
Used LT2 C8’s values should drop decently if this 6.7 is the new base engine.
sc0lm00@reddit
So this LS6 should be around 560hp N/A sans the eray motor? Nice. I'm excited for this. The wider body looks fantastic.
therobshow@reddit
Is it going to have the zr-1 hood as an option? Thats all I care about.
