Sure, 16” is the reasonable default pick. Hard to go wrong. Easy mode.
14.5 P/W is basically a handier 16 with almost no downside aside from less muzzle device flexibility.
11.5 is my preference bc it feels meaningfully lighter and more maneuverable. Fantastic when set up well. People talk about additional blast, but I find that somewhat overstated. For me, its nimbleness outweighs the reduced effective range.
But it’s an endless debate. To spare you the rabbit hole: truth is all the lengths are good for their purposes, no matter how much Redditors argue. AR15 be the king for a reason. Enjoy

16 is good because it’s easy to deal with legally, but with pistol braces, 11.5 has become a lot more common unless you need well over 100 yards.
10.3->11.5 is by far the biggest jump in velocity per inch.

In the civilian market, 14.5 inches is a rather awkward barrel length; typically, users either attach a permanently affixed muzzle device to bring the total length up to 16 inches—thereby circumventing SBR regulations—or opt for an ARP or SBR with a barrel shorter than 12.5 inches.

The special builds are all being built and shipped this year. It sounds like they didn’t expect as many book out orders on these as they received at the show. I’m a one man band and I have over $1million worth of them on order through July. At the show last month they informed dealers that they had roughly 3K firearms built and ready to ship across all SKUs. The special builds were meant to take back a big market share and it seems like they have done just that.

The firearm I typically use for practice is a Radical. How best to describe it... it is absolute, unadulterated junk—though, to its credit, it isn't so unreliable that I run the risk of blowing myself up during training due to a catastrophic failure like a barrel burst. As a training weapon, it serves its purpose well; in terms of function and operation, it differs very little from products made by Colt or FNH. At the shooting range, you have all the time in the world to clear malfunctions; if a part breaks, the worst-case scenario is simply having to cut your training session short, head home, and find a replacement part to install. However, it is hardly suitable for use outside of a training environment.

Daniel Defense is good, but you’re still paying a premium for the name. Generally, more expensive ARs have better barrels, hand guards, triggers, ambi controls, and overall QC. The $500 AR will still work just fine, but you won’t get any internet cool points for it.

Being a newbie is just a starting point. You’ll gain experience so that shouldn’t play into it. I’ve learned just it save up for the firearm you want and invest into something that’ll work no matter what and retain its value

Mk18 has a quad rail and can be sold as SBR. V7p has mlok rail and can be sold as pistol with brace.
Pretty much the same outside of that. With free tax stamps you can honestly get either one.
