Was there ever strong evidence that Cuba had developed advanced bioweapons?

Can someone explain to me why other countries are not telling the US to eff off and sending energy to Cuba?
View on Reddit #80932812

saltedmangos@reddit

Before the embargo Cuba got its oil mainly from Venezuela and Mexico with a bit from Canada. The threat of economic consequences (tariffs, etc.) has stopped Mexico and Canada from sending oil to Cuba. And Venezuela had the US military kidnap their leader.

Thanks. As a Canadian, I would love to see Canada tell the US to screw off and support Cuba. Same with Mexico. I'm sick of the world bowing to the US.

As an American, I'm also sick of this. Why can't we just be a normal nation like all the rest?

Beautiful_Branch_899@reddit

It's the too big to fail curse. I'm not sure the US can ever be a "normal" nation given the size of its economy. But a good first step would be to not elect demented madmen.

I thought that after SCOTUS shot down Trump’s ability to impose tariffs willy nilly, that Mexico would resume supplying oil. Because wasn’t that what Trump was threatening? More tariffs for anyone that supplied oil?
View on Reddit #80937281

saltedmangos@reddit

The SCOTUS did rule against Trump’s use of tariffs, but the Trump admin has been arguing that it was just a ruling against a very specific usage. There are also a lot of preexisting US laws targeting Cuba since we’ve had a ridiculous trade embargo against them since 1958. And the threat of a physical blockade by the US navy disrupting oil shipments to Cuba. The Mexican government is likely still erring on the side of caution and that’s why they haven’t resumed oil shipments.

Why would Mexico want Cuba to collapse? It's not in Mexico's interest to have another neighbour on the verge of collapse. I am so disgusted that countries are kissing trump's ass. What an effed world.

“Why would Mexico want Cuba to collapse?” Please re-read my comment. Mexico doesn’t want Cuba to collapse. The US wants Cuba to collapse and has put pressure on Mexico to stop their oil shipments to Cuba.

Apologies, I know you didn't say that. I get the US is pressuring Mexico. I am just so bewildered that Mexico would allow the US to dictate foreign policy when it's not in Mexico's interest to have a collapsing neighbour. My heart breaks for Cubans. They don't deserve this.

“Sorry, I know you didn’t say that.” No problem. “I am just bewildered that Mexico would allow the US to dictate foreign policy when it’s not in Mexico’s interest to have a collapsing neighbor.” Yeah, the US unfortunately does this kinda shit a lot. To everyone’s detriment. While US allies like Mexico, Canada and the EU play along.

I know that's some "i'm14andthisisdeep" tier shit, but I can totally cope with the end of the world, I've accepted it years ago, but the helplessness I feel about all the injustices in the world is what really turns my stomach. Thanks for coming to my teenage Ted talk.

The world doesn't end, it continues. Society is what collapses, and we're nearing the end because of these injustices. We should operate as a united entity, instead we're divided and isolated. Larger entities like businesses and governments do not care about humans, they care about profits and pleasing shareholders. And the businesses become so large and powerful that they easily manipulate governments with bribery, lobbying and corruption. The first mistake USA did was re-electing a scumbag business man into power.

The U.S. is starving 11 million people in Cuba Right now. Power is out. Food is rotting. Water pumps are shut down. Sewage is overflowing into the streets. Russia tried to send humanitarian aid. The US Navy blocked them. American news isn't covering this.

As for daily life in Havana, there are few cars visible on the streets. Buses don’t run most of the day. They go out around 6 a.m., when people go to work, and don’t operate again until about 4 p.m., when people return home. The price of taxis is out of reach for most. Three-wheel scooters with passenger seating are often used as taxis, but they too can be difficult to find when they go uncharged during extended blackouts. Massive piles of trash with rotting food accumulate in residential areas as the fuel shortage has crippled waste collection services. It’s not uncommon to see people searching through the trash. The waste management crisis poses serious health risks. Last year there was an outbreak of mosquito-borne illnesses that affected one-third of the population.

I hope more Americans are paying attention. We can't vote this out now. It will play out horribly as expected. Americans need to realize that everything their country has inflicted on the world will eventually be inflicted back with interest. No one will mourn the death of Disneyland.

Would you mourn the death of Reddit? Or the internet? Or video games? Or personal computers? Or smartphones? Or the polio vaccine? You can call out the US without being stupidly reductive. Actually you are quite wrong about Disneyland. It's not my thing and I'm always amazed and how much some people love it. It's quite popular in Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Shanghai as well as the US.
