Are monthly prepped boxes like battle box worth it?

I was just watching YouTube videos of people opening these boxes and was wondering if it was truly worth subscribing and if so which box would be best?

Yeah the more I look into this stuff the less I want it, the boxes seem to contain maybe one good item and then a bunch of crap.
deleted_by_reddit@reddit
Keep in mind, These are still businesses, so their goal is to make money. So dont buy into the scam that the box is only $45 each month, but you get $75 worth of gear. If that was accurate they would be losing money and go out of business. You would be better served to figure out what kind of event you are prepping for, and buy items accordingly (of course if you have question ask along the way)
CoCo_Moo2@reddit
Well I think the idea is they buy expensive things in bulk for a large discount so they can actually provide what they’re saying but still make a profit.
No_Fold_4897@reddit
I am almost certain that BattlBox's whole business plan is to purchase failed products that did not sell (for various reasons) at a discount. So basically you're randomly purchasing failed products that BattlBox has put together and given a theme. Sometimes you'll see that the items don't match the theme because they are limited to what is sold at the failed item marketplace. This is a real thing. When someone has 20,000 items of something made and then goes bankrupt, he/she doesn't just throw them away. They leave them in a lot for some newcomer to come along and buy them at a discount. This is how BattlBox acquires most of their items I think. Smart for business but shitty if you're the customer. All you're paying for is someone's failed product.
johnmroman@reddit
Not at all accurate :)
We do not acquire a single item in the way you described.
Almost all items are manufactured runs from the brands we work with (because nobody has that much sitting on a shelf).
No_Fold_4897@reddit
Manufactured runs??? Some of your items were literally made in the 90s. 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
johnmroman@reddit
Yes, manufactured runs. I am assuming you are talking about a single item from many years ago? (The gas mask). So one item out of thousands. Got it.
No_Fold_4897@reddit
Just one lol, u were wrong and it's ok, don't say you were wrong "because", it makes you look bad.
No_Fold_4897@reddit
20,000 was an exaggeration and you wouldn't need that many anyway cuz you don't sell that much. Take a nap
johnmroman@reddit
We actually aren't far off from that number. Regardless, my answer is still my answer and the truth
No_Fold_4897@reddit
Explain why you can't provide a theme anymore then? Why ? Because the products available are LIMITED. Focus on saving your company, not your reddit cred. It ain't working 🤣
johnmroman@reddit
johnmroman@reddit
I actually addressed themes, the reason we stopped doing them (and that they are back)
No_Fold_4897@reddit
R I.P John
No_Fold_4897@reddit
Yes they do. Just because you say something isn't true, doesn't make it so. But keep trying , would love to hear more B.S.
SteampunkJediEDC@reddit
Maybe do a bit more research. I’m afraid you are quite incorrect. Look up just a few of the unboxing reviews on YouTube, then research some of the products. A lot of these items you can buy elsewhere online or in stores, but you may find you get better value through BattlBox. Definitely not failed product runs.
No_Fold_4897@reddit
Where you at bro? Realized your ignorant ? Lol

Are you familiar with the concept of failed product stockpiles up for sale by the pallet or other large quantities? You buy the lot and then SELL ON EBAY, FACEBOOK, AMAZON, or even incorporate them into your newly found company and re-establish the retail price that the new company like BATTLBOX puts on it. You clearly did ZERO research
No_Fold_4897@reddit
Furthermore, if these products are already being sold in other places individually , doesn't that confirm that BATTLBOX has nothing to do with creating its own products and is merely collecting products, putting them together, and then giving it a name like "outdoor gear" which they have been struggling to do as the more recently the products available don't come together anymore to provide an overall theme like they used to. Now it's just BATTLEBOX gear, NO THEME. How do I know I am talking to a child?
No_Fold_4897@reddit
I win another one 🏆.. bye bye bro 👋

Where does this indicate they are not failed products made my one company amd then sold at a loss to anyone willing to re-sell like battlebox. You didn't disprove anything genius, how old are you ? Learn to make valid arguments. Try philosophy 101
No_Fold_4897@reddit
And you think battlebox pays retail prices? You have no idea what I am talking about huh? No research there? Stop defending a company that sells trash
somniumacademy@reddit
Possible. I see that Vattlebox sometimes attempts to sell items on eBay at the recommended value. That bag in box 106? They’ve sold 1.
Successful-Sun-6971@reddit
There are some decent things in each box but for the most part may be better off buying from Army surplus but there are some neat little gadgets and such fun for the surprises every month but pretty pricey. They don't give kickbacks fyi but they have some cool stuff, always have coupons and such and descriptions where they get the gear from.
Odd-Guide-7155@reddit
I recently joined and love it. Cool gear makes for fun surprises.
Ambitious_Activity36@reddit
Just recieved mine! Box 106! Did not disappoint. Then the Tent came! Love!
wutsup4u@reddit
The only kick back is getting awesome stuff every month and if theres something I already have it gets gifted so win win, can't go wrong with Battlbox.
Living-Willow4104@reddit
Great value in boxes- love the new items every month!
throwAwayWd73@reddit
I guarantee the people saying how great they are getting some kind of a kickback.
It's a rule I have for any subscription service they might have one or two decent things shown, But the majority is junkie filler that's cheap or promotional.
You're better off buying exactly what you want instead of hoping you get some random thing that may be useful
TrdnDrt28@reddit
Not paid to say i like it, and no kickbacks. I am a fan thus far. Quality gear, and well curated. I am a well geared for camping, and the gear i get from battlbox has complimented my current setup well.
ixoraa_@reddit
same here! been subbed for a couple years now
antknee18@reddit
No kickback here and I love the boxes!
Dangerous_Scene_5376@reddit
Same!
somniumacademy@reddit
No kickback. I’ve been vocal that mission 106 was subpar
Humble_Rip_68@reddit
Awesome gear I didn’t know existed. Usually a $100 blade in the pro box
Dinger914@reddit
Yes they are. I waited for several years before starting and I wish I wouldn't have waited. DON'T WAIT, JOIN TODAY!!!
SpareMean3198@reddit
My take on Battlbox is that while I might get an item I don't like every now and again, most of the time I'm happy with it. I'm not trying to utilize Battlbox as my only source of gear. It's more like a fun monthly surprise. I think it goes without saying that we all should be building our gear collection from multiple different sources!
Dangerous_Scene_5376@reddit
Agreed! And sometimes you get something you didn’t know you needed, or something that you already have, but is an upgrade.
Maleficent_Gate_1204@reddit
Same
RyanMichaelJohnson@reddit
Agreed!
Dangerous_Scene_5376@reddit
I love my boxes!! I’ve been getting them for a few years now. I tried a couple companies, but battlebox is the only one I stuck with. I’m always happy with the gear they send, and their costumer service is second to none!!
MT_Pete59102@reddit
I receive BattlBox, and believe me that I don't get any kickbacks. But, I have received several items that I don't or should be thinking about getting, not just as a prep, but as daily and camping uses. The stuff I don't want or need, I sell on the BattlBox members only Facebook page. I have given several things as gifts to family members, and my wife has even commandeered several things. Some months are better than others, but I do think most months have been positive for me. Last month, I sold everything but one item that paid for the box with a little extra to boot. But that's been the only one so far. The group on Facebook has been great with exchanges on items and ideas for using specific tools and resources too. Hope this helps.
Dadfish55@reddit
Get an army surplus catalogue from. Sportsmans Guide. Great way to start getting what you need.
SignificanceMobile19@reddit
Or go to a military surplus store
SignificanceMobile19@reddit
I like them mostly because they provide items I can use while camping or doing outdoors fun days with my kids and they get to learn about these items and how to use them.
Brave_lil_ghoster@reddit
I know that there are some that are not worth it, but some are great! I get BattlBox and I love them! They are good for people just starting out who maybe need help figuring out what to get and need a good place to start. They have good quality stuff! They also send a packet with how to use each item in the box and why you need it. I also really appreciate the community that you join if you get a subscription (no matter the size). They share tips, sell things to others, you get discounts on things you want to buy, etc. I have learned a ton of things I didn't know! I think that it is really whatever you want, but I if you need a place to start, Battlox is a great one to go with where you really get your money's worth!
SickPigeon123@reddit
For me it’s a good value. Some boxes are definitely better than others for certain individuals but I feel like each box has a lot of happy customers.
I do gift some of the items to friends so it’s nice to give out useful items to others.
I was pretty well prepped for camping and a lot of adventures but honestly, a bunch of my equipment is over a decade old. Trustworthy stuff but I’ve had the chance to upgrade a bunch of gear along with adding to it with some things I didn’t even know existed.
New gear is fun to see how it can be best used in the field. It’s helped open up my ideas of how to do certain things.
All of this and just getting a surprise treat for myself has been an enjoyable experience.
RyanMichaelJohnson@reddit
I even enjoy watching the videos!
deleted_by_reddit@reddit
I have 4 home schooled kids and we live on 5 acres. We are always outside practicing bush craft and survival skills. Anything in the BattlBox I don’t want goes straight to the kiddos and everything gets used for sure. Not everyone is in a life situation like mine so I understand how others could be disappointed but for my family, BattlBox is an exciting monthly ritual. We really love it!
RyanMichaelJohnson@reddit
Love your perspective!
7thrandomguy@reddit
I have had the subscription for about a year and a half now.
I get the pro+ that is basically a guarantee to get an extra knife each month.
A pretty good value of balance of EDC, SHTF, and good ole camping gear.
OldManSurvival@reddit
The box I subscribe to has exposed me to MANY items I had never heard of before but have found them to be very useful. I have given some items as gifts as well. BATTLBOX is absolutely worth it.
SteampunkJediEDC@reddit
Agreed! I’ve found the same true for myself, found many products and brands that I hadn’t found before. My brother and his wife are very much into the outdoors, and quite a few items over the last year I’ve gifted to them.
QueenShorti3@reddit
I love battlbox! You get stuff you didn't know you wanted or needed and def better than other subs yes if you want a specific item go buy it but this is a human barkbox lmao
LedgeDaddy34@reddit
Not sure about the rest but I enjoy Battlebox. Here’s the deal, if you can afford the price you get more than your money’s worth of quality gear. I like knives so I’m usually very happy with my box. Usually there are 1 or 2 items I didn’t even know I wanted or needed but glad I have them now!
SpecificControl7802@reddit
I enjoy the mission boxes from Battlbox...
Adventurous-Course66@reddit
They are worth it if you like new gear but preparing for your own situation is always recommended. Battlbox has given me some gear I never thought I would need or even knew existed
Fantastic_Play_1800@reddit
I look forward to my box every month. It’s a well curated box with a good variety of items. It’s a good value to me.
roygbiv508@reddit
Iv found a lot of cool items from battlebox that I otherwise wouldn't have thought of. Things that I didn't know if I'd like or not and got my hands on them and really liked them or honestly some stuff I dident like but the community is always buying and selling stuff so I always got my money back. I'd say it's worth the price tag, but I don't mind reselling stuff I won't use. I will say they are very heavy on knives and power banks. iv been a member since mission 5, and they are on mission 109 currently and have an arsenal of knives and battery banks, lol.
Jdodds78@reddit
I’ve found BattlBox to be very worth it. I’ve been a subscriber for 3.5 years now and have never been disappointed when I open the box. They have the absolute best customer support and service also. You can’t go wrong.
wutsup4u@reddit
I have been a member of Battlbox and its definitely worth it, new stuff you never thought you would have but glad you got it.
Immediate-Top8607@reddit
Definitely enjoy my BattlBox subscription it has alit of cool gear that I use or give away to friends and family as a way to get them into the outdoors and prepping! The community that surrounds them add even more value because tjey are all out there trying new things and helping each other learn!
jakenailor@reddit
I started getting battl box because I wanted to get stuff I may not have known about yet. Things I never thought of, and they have not disappointed. I'm a fan.
BSTalksITSecWalks@reddit
This is exactly why I subbed. Checking a few things out with each box, and if I like, I purchase a lot more.
Ebrams76@reddit
Battlbox is awesome. Been getting g their stuff for a LONG time!
Sufficient-Pace-6478@reddit
Absolutely. Been getting it for a couple of years and love it!
OldNerdHerder@reddit
Battlbox is my monthly surprise gift to myself. I love it.
No-Situation4663@reddit
No issues with battlbox. Occasionally get something you’re not happy with and can trade with the community to get more of what you want. Great group and amazing customer service.
turbo_kraut@reddit
I have battle box and have only been with them a few months. I’m moving to Alaska soon this summer. So for me it is.
wildmanbm@reddit
Absolutely! Battlbox is top notch!
Wild_Instance_8760@reddit
Battlbox for the win!
savagecreeper01@reddit
I have been a basic subscriber since almost the very beginning of BB and I can tell you that I have used a ton of the items from them. Sure the products won’t be for everyone but the items can be regifted to someone else who might need it. I don’t believe there is a one size fits all subscription box service so you have to roll the dice, BB has worked for me the entire time and I’ve been able to get others to join after they see me with certain products. The basic level subscription doesn’t give you a bunch of products but would be a great starting point to see if it’s worth it. From there you can upgrade the levels all the way to pro plus, each tier has everything from the basic with additional item(s) added as you go up. I’m happy with my subscription and plan to stick with BB until I find a reason to quit…..which I’ve not found yet
GlitteringSuccess495@reddit
I love Battlbox, so many things I didn’t even know I wanted!!!
KitchenAd9405@reddit
I love my BattlBox subscription
jackalsmokes@reddit
I’m a new subscriber and so far I am pretty happy with the majority of items in the boxes from Battlbox. Some items I don’t have a use for, but those items make good gifts for people I know.
beast_baiori_255@reddit
BattlBox sends us family friendly gear on a monthly basis. My wife and kid love opening them with me and planning different adventures to utilize most of the gear that comes in them
Impressive-Delay-403@reddit
Sure you may not use everything sent or it’s something you already have but I’m constantly giving extras to friends or family that don’t always think of for their emergency kits or vehicles
TD-Allen@reddit
Been a member for almost a year and love this subscription service. No regrets here
deleted_by_reddit@reddit
There are not many things I want delivered monthly as a surprise, and prepping supplies is definitely not one of them. I mean ... they’re “preparations”, so by definition should not be surprises.
somniumacademy@reddit
The idea is to get more for your money. I’ve gotten a number of knives.
RonJohnJr@reddit
So is Preparation H.
Admirable_Okra_5428@reddit
Which you never want to be a surprise...
jeremed1@reddit
Battlbox is great.
TrdnDrt28@reddit
Got my first box a couple weeks ago. Several items are ones i have not thought to gear my camp pack with. Ex. The poison oak wipes. Have not had poison oak in some years. Sure enough, a friend of mine came into work the next day with poison oak on his legs fron a recent bike ride. Handed him some from my pacm to use on his ride that evening. Used the sibgle person tent that weekend i received it on an offroad trip with some friends, and the blankey as well. Overall, very happy with the gear i received. Uswful, and good quality.
somniumacademy@reddit
I find solid value in the sales fear they offer. The March Madness sale I cashed in on a Rapto knife.
Any_Tower_7463@reddit
Love Battlbox! Hi quality items, not factory seconds...all useful items that you don't see at local shops. Like Christmas every month!
SteveDuce-Chops@reddit
Love the BattlBox gear..... haven't been disappointed yet.... quality stuff!
ZealousidealFee4415@reddit
I enjoy the Battlboxes each month. Anything I don’t want or need I use as Christmas and birthday gifts to the family. I probably come out ahead when it’s all said and done. There is always an array of items that cover a wide range of applications. I think Battlbox does a great job of bringing us a variety of quality items. Makes me want to get outside and put them to use.
Nearby_Spring_854@reddit
Totally worth it, particularly for stuff you wouldn’t ordinarily buy or didn’t even know about and can have on hand. (RJG)
MoLady1961@reddit
I'm really happy with the items I'm receiving. They are great add-ons to the emergency preps we have already collected over time.
antknee18@reddit
I love battlbox! I think the boxes are very much worth the cost. If you like Christmas, it's like Christmas every month when you are subscribed :-)
Background-Award-342@reddit
We are using battlebox for a year. So far so great… any doubles become gifts for others
lisavagov@reddit
We love our boxes and the people seem to be nice and back their products! Have been a member for 7 months now💚
SteampunkJediEDC@reddit
If you’re into the outdoors in any way, This is an incredible monthly box! You may find some gear that you’ve never even thought of or seen before, that may help you in whatever outdoor hobby you enjoy. Very possible you may get some gear that you may not need or use, but there’s a thriving community on the subscribers Facebook group that sell and trade items they don’t want or need.
JudetheGerman@reddit
Anything survivalist is worth the money.
BigPoppyis@reddit
Battlbox is the best sub-box for adventure people. I have been with them for a few years. High-end knifes for the enthusiast. Then other gear for camping, survival, and such. They send you things you would not think were a must-have until you need that item. The people who complain are looking for MSRP and looking at Amazon. You can skip a month, get ideas and come back. Again 100% better than any other box out there today.
No_Employment_2989@reddit
I have really enjoyed it
Substantial-Peanut46@reddit
Overall BattlBox is a good value if you like the monthly surprise aspect of it! Not everything will be useful to you specifically but it’s still good quality stuff!
Lord_hermy@reddit
I honestly think it’s worth it I’ve liked most stuff they send and even was one of the m100 winners and got to go shoot a tanks with them if you like knives and other cool stuff like that I think it’s well worth the money
largesarge01@reddit
I can’t say that every item I have received is the best. Sure there are items in there I’ll never use but there are some that I use all the time. There are trading options for getting different gear because different people like different stuff. Plus you can always gift the items you don’t like or want.
AffectionateTrick590@reddit
I am absolutely happy with what I got! Sure, I would have been disappointed on a lower tier. The advanced box... All good with me!
