I’d be more worried about the extra load on the suspension components since there is so much more unsprung weight and the widened wheelbase increases torque on control arms, shocks, springs, etc.
Extremely. This is sick as hell but I'd be concerned about doing this on such an old platform with very limited parts availability. A friend at the track runs a ur-quattro and has basically 5 cars worth of spares in a warehouse because he'll never find parts readily available again.
In Europe we're just transplanting parts from more modern Quattro as long as there's chassis worth saving. And 1,8T for literally everything. How 'bout Lada 2107 1.8T with Volvo 740 drivetrain and E39 gearbox?
Someone who builds this kind of snow monster is exactly the type of person I’d expect to modify their Audi 80 with a newer/uprated gearbox, rear diff, and possibly a newer floorpan to accommodate them.
This kit is from CAMSO. It takes more power to move around, but the limit will be the tracks at about 50 mph (80 kph). This car will rip the snow on the second gear. With all the snow the gearbox won't overheat, but oil change replacement would be yearly... I suppose that is already the case.

Hell yeah. BTW, how tough are tracks on the driveline?
AdGreedy6076@reddit (OP)
I guess they don't put too much strain on the driveline those things are built like tanks

Years ago I sold my Quattro to a rally driver who needed another chassis just in case. I think it’s a noble cause.

It's 100% more stressful lol

Sick af. I fucking wish tracked cars would be road legal here

That would be a whole new level of pavement princess.

I used to follow this guy on Instagram or fb. The tracks have only been on it for a year or two.
