Moving to Dallas

Hi all, I’m ready for a new environment and after a conversation I’ve been highly considering a move to Dallas. I work in the insurance industry and have started filling out applications. For those who have moved here did you find work before moving? I’m also looking to date marriage minded men, I know dating is dating but I hear there’s a lot that here, how is the scene here? I’m 33

Don’t move here until you have a GOOD offer. Dallas is no longer as affordable as you think. The rent and mortgages increased a lot for the past few years. I’m not sure about dating because I moved to here married. But I heard a lot of people complained about it. With the job market being tough, make sure you get a very good offer before you move here.

Hey! What would be considered a good offer in Dallas? I’m from the UK and have had an offer to relocate so trying to gauge what’s reasonable

I'd second the job offer advice. I gave up trying to get a job in Texas from Virginia and moved. It cost me 23K in savings, and getting a job took three months once here.

And savings in case of a lay off. Nothing worse moving to a new place and getting laid off, having no savings or support system that’ll help you if you do lose income.

Check out Cribbi!! We used it when we moved from Chicago here. It made it such an easy experience to find a place and then rent it as well. Overall fantastic experience.

The area around Dallas NorthTollway is pretty rich with insurance jobs.

Don't worry, I'm sure there are plenty of perfectly qualified men you can ignore, reject, swipe left on, and call creeps for daring to glance in your direction like you've obviously been doing for the past 13 years or you'd already be hitched. Maybe you can spend the rest of your waking life combing god's entire green Earth looking for the right dating scene. 🤡

Highly recommend finding work before moving - if you’re planning to rent most places will require you show income of 3x the monthly rent to sign a lease.
Can’t speak to the dating scene, but if there’s anything I suggest, it’s to find a hobby or community that you’re interested in and start showing up. Doesn’t matter what it is - pickle ball, church, running, gardening, pick something and make yourself a regular. That’s the best way to make friends, and eventually maybe find a partner.
If you have any questions about the move feel free to DM me! I’m a realtor and apartment locator and happy to help with any other questions you have.
