i know there have been a few shows that tried to get on the MythBusters hype but didn't catch on like white rabbit and the many spin off shows. i recall one

YouTube is the place for you. There's a lot of venn diagrams in terms of what makes up actual MythBusters DNA, but you might like:
- Tyler Bell
- How to Make Everything
- The Slow Mo Guys
- Bobby Fingers
- Brian Brocken
- Piercefilm Productions
- Science vs Cinema
- Slice of Life
- Zhade Lang
And a million different makers and adjacent folks that cover off on another corner of what makes Mythbusters great. With a quick scan of my subscriptions, I like Cut Transform Glue, Greig Johnson Making, Bill Making Stuff, Clickspring, Dazbot Toys, It's Triggy, PKT Crafts, Sublight Drive Crafts,

Sounds like both you and OP would absolutely love Colin Furze
He's the undisputed mad king of making crazy things, and as of now he's been going longer than Mythbusters did, nearly 20 years! And he's still just as crazy as he ever was. God bless that man

One to add to your makers list is Boylei Hobby Time. He's really good and funny. And Bill Making Stuff's twin brother, Dan Does.

It’s an add for his Curiosity subscription box, but a bunch of Mark Rober’s kid stuff has the vibe.
Also Alton Brown’s “Good Eats”

Kind of a crazy answer but anyway, an anime called Dr. Stone. It’s a great anime with science as its theme and the whole vibe and charm of the show always reminds me how I felt watching Mythbusters. It’s good stuff check it out sometime.

Until it just turns into a generic gen-z shonen anime by the last season. Lost all its original charm.

Dr stone always felt more like how it's made more than mythbuster but I haven't watched it in a few years so that might have changed

Baking Impossible, kinda.
James May had some old shows called Toy Stories and Man Lab that are both very similar. He has a new one Shed Load of Ideas that is kinda similar but it's not quite the same vibe.
Junkyard Wars as people mentioned.
I believe Tori did a car-specific Mythbusters show
zyroruby@reddit (OP)
I will take both but I'm partly looking for a nonfiction show that is min 15 years old I watched on an iPod. I know that doesn't narrow it down but I don't recall much I think it was a 4 member team and the episode was about tornados

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_Team ?
murphsmodels@reddit
Nah. Time Team is a British archaeology show. Extremely awesome to watch though.
zyroruby@reddit (OP)
don't think that it. it didn't have any digging

White Rabbit Challenge (Tori and Kari)
Novel_Willingness721@reddit
Kari & Tory’s podcast “Mythfits” this week called Xyla Foxlin “the next mythbuster”. Xyla has a YT channel.
On their podcast they’ve made that claim several times regarding their guest.

The UK show some are trying to remember might be “brainiac” present by Richard Hammond (top gear) and John Tickle (some reality show.. big brother maybe?)
It was , as I recall almost a format copy of mythbusters , I think they might have even done some very similar stuff.
The only episode I can remember right now is a swimming pool full of custard

Came here to say this.
Attican101@reddit
I remember seeing something from The UK that was kind of similar with them building makeshift rockets etc, but couldn't remember the name for the life of me, they were in some kind of big metal hanger on a farmyard.

Scrapheap Challenge (AKA Junkyard Wars)
Hard to find any quality media of it.
zyroruby@reddit (OP)
I tried looking for it and couldn't find more than YouTube videos but I will try the alternative name you listed
Attican101@reddit
Yeah when I saw it I think only season 1 was on Youtube, maybe not even all of it.
Looks like Junkyard Wars is The American version

The Collider on youtube
