I saw this way too early. What was your most Memorable Death Scene?

Posted by NewToHTX@reddit | Xennials | View on Reddit | 344 comments

Mom was pissed when my dad took my 6 year old ass to see this Rated-R movie 1 day when she took my sister shopping for clothes. “\*Father/son bonding time\*” he said.

Unfortunately subtitles just read as "speaking in hindi" whenever there's any Indian dialog during the film,at least on my TV especially since I have to use captioning due to hearing issues now.

Monkey brains, eyeball soup, crunchy bug floor, heart ripping, slowly being lowered into lava, thugs being eaten alive-ish after falling like 200 feet... Indy being evil and possessed kind of traumatized me too. There were a lot of parts that I was probably too young to see.

RoboCop. One of my all time favorite movies. Also one of those kids who saw this movie when he probably shouldn’t have 😂. I can handle just about anything this movie threw out. Even the Emil melting scene. 42 years old. Murphy getting executed, to this day, is the one scene I still can’t watch. I’ll either walk out the room or fast forward. It’s just so sad, brutal and a whole other level of mean spirited.

I'm Korean and we have this stew we eat that contains many different items. It's like a hangover meal with whatever you have left to throw into the pot. Spam is often used because the fatty and salty taste is perfect for the spicy broth. For some reason, when I saw Emil's death via toxic waste and 6000 SUX, it reminded me of this stew and the spam. I could not eat it for years.

View on Reddit #80674887

Electronic_Relation9@reddit

Think about it in reverse: Red is Pre-Clarence. Red and Kitty move to Detroit. They get involved In a car jacking. Kitty is mortally wounded during this and Red takes her to the nearest police station just to have her die just as he gets there. They do nothing. He gets drunk, does some other things and works his way up the chain. Clarence Bodicker is an alias so he can find the carjackers who killed Kitty. Problem is, Clarence takes over.

View on Reddit #80672978

AllHailKeanu@reddit

I will argue to my dying day that scene could have been executed entirely differently and still achieved its goal. It needed to establish that (1) dip could kill toons and (2) that the judge was insane. They could have done this by having the judge open a barrel of dip and just grabbing one of his evil henchmen and throwing them in. It would have shown he gave no value to basically any toons life and wouldn’t have tormented the audience watching an innocent sweet toon be tortured.

I've mentioned it in other subs, but the kid on the bike in Toxic Avenger. I just had to take a breather and go sit in my room for a while. I was about the same age as the kid... like 11 or 12. My dad knew I liked the Toxic Crusaders cartoon and recorded TA 1 and 2 from cable (they had satellite channels at the firehouse where he was stationed). The earliest death scene I can remember, though, is Tina in A Nightmare on Elm Street. I remember being in the car on the way home and pretending to sleep so my dad would carry me inside. He did, but I realized my aunt and her boyfriend were there watching TV, so I "woke up" and went to sit with them in the living room. Just in time to see Tina writhing around all over the bedroom walls, covered in blood.

I thought of the same thing, i was pretty young when we watched it at home as a family. The scary biker guy really haunted me, he threw the grenade at the bunny, it was the only thing that i remembered about the movie. The whole thing was a fever dream, the movie was on comedy central all the time and I must have never sat down and watched the whole movie. A few years ago I remembered the scary biker guy and googled to try and figure out what movie it was. I was thinking no way it was raising Arizona, then I read the plot and it didn't sound familiar, so I watched it and sure enough that was it.

The best/worst part of knowing about the Wilhelm scream, is how ubiquitous it is. Once one recognizes it, it kinda breaks the scene (or at least demolishes the fourth wall.) I gotta say 4's special effects are top notch! The scene where they mowe down those people in the field blew my mind. If you're into that sort of thing.

Ok this is pretty good, but the best grenade pin pulling death scene will always be the one in Raising Arizona.

The second half of *Full Metal Jacket* fucked me up as a kid, was probably about four when I first saw it. I had recurring nightmares of the sniper scene with the flames and haunting music.

My parents rented Betrayed when I was 7 years old. It’s an 80s movie about white supermacists who kidnap and hunt black people. It was traumatizing watching it.

That seems like they had a conversation after that along the lines of “Let’s not do that again…” Makes me wonder if parents decide what type of Trauma and phobia do they want their kids to have?

I know. My parents continued to play the movie after me and my sister were in tears from watching a black guy get murdered. Seriously, wtf was wrong with them?

Platoon. Saw it when I was 12. The scene where they beat the person in the village for no reason and then they're like "you see those brains come out of that head man? I've never seen brains like that" scarred me pretty bad. Made me realize we do awful things in war and I've been against it ever since.

I don’t remember but definitely +1 for seeing things way too early. Dad and I would walk into the video store, 2-3 random movies that had a fun cover and an interesting description and watch them until whenever am. Definitely no concern for what the actual content was.
