This is reasonable advice; see what Feyachi has. It’s fun to gamble with cheap knockoffs or other accessories on range toys sometimes. There’s a place for quality and serious use gear…and at least a small place for fun, adventure, and seeing just how good/bad something is for the lolz.
I’ve found some amazingly useful dirt cheap things on AliExpress where function and purpose don’t require space age materials or manufacturing standards, and put them to uses where there are no meaningful consequences for failure. Keep that in mind and have fun.

FWIW, I have a (gotta be 10 years old) ACOG clone with functional fiberoptic + battery illumination. I got for free attached to a rifle I bought second hand. The guy claimed it never held zero so he was going to throw it away if I didn't want it. Got it home, it was a little loose between the base and optic, tightened the super accessible screw that was visibly loose when not attached to the rail, little thread lock....umpteen years later that thing is still rock solid on a 15-22.

I have one of these OTW with the Disruptor bundle. For sub $100 it just needs to be competitive with the Romeo 5 and ARO. I can’t imagine vortex could shit the bed so hard they can’t beat the Romeo 5.
And I like the Romeo 5.
Luckily if somehow the glass is bad, I can throw it on a 10/22 or give it to one of my buddies who like to airsoft.

I will say that my 1st gen Viper PST has one of the worst rheostats for its IR that I’ve ever used. Admittedly one of the things I’m OK with sucking on a budget optic. But if the glass is bad, there’s really no excuse. There are china clones of optics for less than this with Romeo quality glass.

This fixes the issue I have with crossfire, which is that the protruding turrets create weak points in the event of a drop. Otherwise, I really like the crossfire, so I'd suspect this is solid as well.

I have a sparc on my MP5-22 and it’s just used as a range toy. It doesn’t have motion detection so you have to turn it on manually vs the new one which looks about the same that has 10 minute auto-off and motion detection for auto on. For the same price roughly I’d rather have the new one if it was a home defense gun strictly for the auto on feature. My holosun does this and it’s on a PCC9mm but I’d rather have a vortex for the warranty. Most of my sights are Vortex because of their superior customer service. I also have EOTech, trijicon, and holosun optics in some fashion.

Ive been buying the sparc solars for $90 which also have shake on. They are less commonly available / on sale now and I may need to start buying these instead. My placeholder optics until I figure out what I want to do long term.
Im the same on the vortex warranty thing. I also like consistency so I don't tend to mix brands. May have to buy a Leupold for my new super redhawk though since Vortex has nothing with an eye relief over 10”.

Didn’t know it had that now. Mine is a few years old so maybe it’s an updated feature. Just purchased one of these since it was on sale to try it out. I traded in my Defender CCW when it had the bad refresh rate and 10 hour auto off feature and vortex swapped it out to the upgraded one at no charge, maybe I can do the same with my sparc.
