How is Poland perceived in the Balkans and by the Balkan diaspora?

I'm marrying one soon. They have a reputation in Greece from the ones that came as immigrants. I think most people think of cold, hardworking people who like to drink. Pretty accurate, but the younger generations don't drink nearly as much and there are far fewer street drinkers. Today, most Greek people like drawing the parallel of how well Poland is doing in comparison to Greece, and this is usually one of the first things people bring up when it gets mentioned. A lot of Greeks have also visited Krakow, Warsaw, Gdansk because theres been a huge increase in polish tourism which means there is often very cheap flights to Poland too. The cultures are very different and not particularly compatible. I didn't realise just how left leaning Greece is politically until I spent more time in that part of the world. Having travelled a lot in the Balkans I think places like Bulgaria or Serbia have a lot in common with Poland. But it does ultimately feel like a cultural continuum to Greece with a few 'jumps' due to communism. If anyone ever has the opportunity to travel by car through the Balkans to Poland, I'd highly recommend it, it was very enlightening and you could really feel history and the cultural impact of everything. Ultimately, I think Poland is a far superior place to raise children and have a family but probably not as a place to live due to how cold, flat and boring most places are apart from Zakopane.
