I own 4, I’d say it’s a sweet spot for non competitors. Fun to shoot, fun to do gunsmithing on and also utilitarian for home defense and keeping with you but not on your person. Also, the variations add intrigue. Sa/da, Sa conversion and decocker vs manual safety. Heck..I get a woody just thinking about them.

I kind of disagree. This is one of my favorite pistols I own and I got a lot of them, including seven CZs at this point. Any time I bring it out and folks shoot it, they fall in love with it and I've had several people buy one of their own. The problem with this one is that it's not threaded and I believe that the best reason to have this gun is to shoot it suppressed. I would not recommend buying it without the threaded barrel unless you just know you'll never go suppressed. And in that case I'd probably just go get a different gun.

You're extremely correct. I have a SP-01 which is a fantastic gun but I never shoot it after I got a Shadow 2. I tried to sell mine but everyone that I offered it to said they rather get a P-01. If CZ made it optics ready and comes standard with a threaded barrel then it would have a market.

This doesn’t really ring true in practice. I’m a CZ guy and own one that I love and always get complements on when I let others shoot it. I don’t see it being shunned by other CZ fans either. It’s a nice shooting fullsize duty ready DA/SA gun. Drop safe and a decent bit less money than a shadow, with plenty of aftermarket to make it even smoother if you want to. If you are serious about competition or whatever, yeah shadow 2. If you want a nice shooting gun for the range, duty carry and/or a home defense gun, this is a great option for like 60% the cost.

I enjoy my sp-01 way more than my PCR. The grip is just way better for my hands and I prefer the safety on the sp-01 over the decocker on the PCR. I don’t carry either though because they’re chunky and I’m not.

Everybody complaining that the 50th Anniversary editions didn't do anything other than add a 50th anniversary logo, but from what I can tell from the pictures it looks like all the 50th anniversary guns come with the 85 combat trigger instead of the terrible 75B super hooked trigger slap-o-matic. That's huge if you hate trigger slap, which has always been my biggest gripe with CZ 75s and why I sold all of mine.

I've had an SP-01 for quite a few years, recently got to shoot a friend's shadow 2.
The shadow has a nicer and lighter trigger. The SP-01 is drop safe and has a decocker.
imo the shadow is only worth it if you're competing, and the sp-01 is actually a better gun for non-competition use.
