922r is weird, once you are affected by it, you need a certain number of parts made in the US (10+?), and the furniture alone might not be enough, you might need to swap internals too, and for the SP5 I ca see why it's not feasible for HK to do so.

The rifle was technically banned in 89, but all they have to do is not stamp "HK94" on it.

There's really nothing to HK roller guns, you press the pins out and press out the barrel. You press the new one in, headspace with the bolt and feeler gauges, drill and pin back. The typical guys want you to believe it's all super complicated stuff so that you keep overpaying them.

Import, pistols have fewer restrictions. SIG Switzerland, whatever they're going by these days, also does this for $5000+ 20" 550s.
They could put a stock on after import but then they'd have to make and install US made parts for 922r. Easier to just let users ignore the law or take it upon themselves to find parts.
