Anyone else's grandma or great grandmother use a pressure cooker?

Yeah, I know, this is f'ing trivial, but I was cooking rice for dinner and the steam reminded me of my great grandmother's kitchen. Specifically, that god damned pressure cooker. All the women in my family would scream at me and my brother to stay out of the kitchen when she was using it "because it could kill you if you touch it wrong!" And the loud whistle when it was done. And then all the women moving it to the sink and releasing the valve like it was a weapons grade device. Part of me really wants to get one just to revisit this hysterical memory. It seems like by the 90s no one was using one anymore.
