Anyone else's grandma or great grandmother use a pressure cooker?

My mom did - a huge old pressure canner with the steam jiggler/weight on top. A kind neighbor had a ton of concord grapes in their yard that they weren't going to use, and gave them to Mom, as she knew we had a large-ish family and Mom was an avid canner. Mom was thrilled and decided to can grape juice. Mom was also an avid recycler, so like many home canners, she re-used her jars year after year. At this point, some of her jars were decades old. She processed the grapes, bottled up the juice and put them in the pressure canner. Somewhere in the process, something went wrong. We assume one of the jars exploded in the canner, but we'll really never know. All we know is suddenly, there was a huge \*BANG\* from the kitchen, and we ran in to see a geyser of grape juice coming out of the top of the canner in a straight stream, hitting the ceiling and raining down all over the kitchen. We all screamed and ran back out of the kitchen until the geyser exhausted itself and it was safe to go back in. The jiggler/weight had blown right off the canner and was on the other side of the kitchen - it flew straight up, hit the ceiling (leaving a dent that is probably still there to this day) and across the room. Grape juice was EVERYWHERE. We mopped it up with dish towels - Mom had purple-stained dish towels for years. She never attempted canning with that pressure canner again - ever.
