They appear to be going through supplier changes and/or were potentially sued by streamlight and forced to modify the exterior. I’ve seen both commented not sure which is accurate. Bought one in January and another in February and they look different.
Supply chain appears to be catching up with demand. I’d say if you are inside track member wait for a sale weekend and pick it up for whatever coupon special they are running then, got one for $40+ tax a few weeks ago.

Streamlight did initiate a trademark suit. This complaint ultimately centered around a silver ring around the bezel, which Streamlight claimed was a brand identifier. Braun/HF got rid of the ring and Streamlight dropped the suit at the end of last year after several requests for extensions.

Reporting back. Picked one up locally. They do fit, ish. Drawing is absolutely fine, no issues. Holstering though is a bit rough, but still manageable. I did have to loosen the retention all the way loose fyi.
For reference I used a 6360RDS meant for a PDP compact w/ TLR1/X300 light. I also used the Sig adapter instead of the 1913 adapter for the braun.

It'll depend on your holster fit. I've had a whole box of Safariland 6000 series I'm slowly selling off just because they fit so many guns if you slap a TLR(or something with the same dimensions😜) on them. A custom iwb MIGHT produce some scuffing issues.

They're not, I bought the original silver-ringed one (during the like day or two they were available before being pulled due to the Streamlight lawsuit) to compare it to a real TLR1, to answer this very question. It's a good clone but not great, especially now that the exterior has changed. Probably similar quality to any other $40 Streamlight clone from AliExpress but with slightly better QC.
Here's a quick gallery but notable points are that the dimensions are not quite the same (even less so now), different (worse) mounting system, different (worse) beam profile, lower CRI, poorer wiring, grittier machining/threads. Oh and the tail cap button clicks way more loudly when engaging/disengaging and the switch feels worse.

I have both, the TLR HLX and grabbed one of these last sale.
There is a very noticeable difference in quality. The housing, lense and switches in particular. TLR switches are much more solid. Also interchangeable height.
TLR takes multiple battery types and comes with the cool USB C rechargeable battery.
I dunno of it's worth triple the cost, but, very noticeable differences in quality all around.
Also this newer model is bigger by quiet a bit than the TLR, both the body and the lense. It's very noticeable side by side.

I have the older, more TLRish model. My own TLR didn't come with a USB option ( TLR1-HL ).
I agree that build quality feels a bit off. My only complaints with the light are the "modes" ( I just want Constant On and Hold ON ) and the switch itself -- mine drags some. The beam pattern is less great than my TLR1, but it is acceptable for under 100 yard and indoor use ).
Another poster said that their tailcap was a perfect fit - so I may swap a real streamlight tail on me to resolve one quirk.
Right now I put these on my fun / training kit; so far I find them "good enough" and am considering dunking one ( 3ft down ) for a day in the retention pond near me and tossing it around. If they survive then I'd find them acceptable for the social guns for 1/3rd the price of a streamlight.
My own flashlight desire is to find one with a mount that extends to avoid silencer shadow, but locks back at muzzle length for storage / transport.

I've bought 5 of these so far. For $50 each at my local store, it's hard to net get them for my range case guns and even for my friends who don't currently have WML for their home defense stuff, (imo it's an absolute must).
Time will tell how durable they are, but I ain't running operations in shit environments, so I don't need that level of gear. I've got one on a Taurus TH10 that's stayed put and stayed functioning over 100 rounds so far, which tells me it's at least passable for the price.

Mine with this light. I view the Macro as a thin full sized pistol, rather than a enlongated subcompact, so I don’t think it’s too big.

I have a TLR 7 HL X and it’s great. But it’s quite pricey, even tho I got a decent deal at $147 from AA Armament.
