How much more would p91 for hire/p135 cost if it were held to the same safety standards as p121?

Obviously, we're just a bunch of pilots who don't know shit about jack, so I'm not expecting a real thorough and in depth dissertation here. Obviously, the only reason p135/p91 aren't as safe as p121 is because of money: if there's fewer lives on the line, you don't need to spend as much of it to ensure safety. Being just a PPL (and a mediocre one at that) idk much at all about the difference between the regulations. Would costs really increase that much if p91 for hire/p135 were brought in line with p121? What parts of p121 would cause the greatest cost increases?

Sure everything comes down to money. But having been at both 121 and 135. 121 programs generally are more detailed. You get more sim sessions, FTD, CTP training which focus on standardization. The bar in which 121 is held to is higher. For example I just took my CQ for year and I was corrected in my call out for a go around because I said xxxx set instead of missed approach set. In my 135 experience I never had that level of detail. Now some operators like NJ, FLX and other large 135 ops basically already have a 121 like operation but because they aren’t scheduled passenger service they have to operate 135. And part 91 operators CAN have less training. But here’s there thing. Operators in the 121 and larger 135 set up the training to be Very standardized and the pilots are basically forced fed these standards with very little leeway. And that training takes time. And time takes money. And that’s why it takes quite a bit more money in those ops. But the trade off is less occurrences that end up with the NTSB at the other end of the long wooden table

NJ does their training under 121 AQP. Only 91/135 operator to do so as far as I’m aware
