What is the main reason why small town high streets are failing?

I was in my local town today. I found cheap, good quality stuff for less than 20 quid. Its better than dogshit I can buy on amazon and chatting with the shop owners is so fun. Why on earth is the highstreet dying? Today was AWESOME
