Best bed cooling system- has anyone tried eightsleep or bedjet or found anything else that helps keep cool?

I struggle to regulate my body temperature and my room gets warm as it faces the sun. I usually have my blind closed to stop the sun getting in but it doesn’t help.
I struggle with falling asleep when my room is warm and stuffy and can find myself waking up a lot when feeling too hot and usually once I’ve woken once it’s hard for me to go back to sleep.
Has anyone found anything to help - anyone tried eightsleep or bedjet or specific duvets or bedding or literally anything else.

Recently found and ordered a Qimora Sleep Core. I think it’s better value than others (I refuse to pay a subscription for the eight sleep)

Do you already have your's? I can't find any real reviews so far. The ones on Trustpilot seem scripted and since they don't offer a 30 day money back guarantee, im a little cautious.
worldwise1@reddit
Not yet, will report back when I receive it. They confirmed me they offer a money back guarantee

Good to know. Looking forward to the review!

I have a Pulsio Thermasleep and it's great, it's also worth looking at mirror tint for the window
dbxp@reddit
Those systems will make the room warmer not cooler, they just cool the matress

I have an ac unit but find I end up either with a chesty cough or ill in the morning if I have it on all night.
satyris@reddit
check the room humidity, get a digital hygrometer for \~£10. You may need a humidifier to add moisture back into the environment. It's the same reason you get dry eyes and throat issues on long flights
dbxp@reddit
Sounds like you might need to clean it, they have a habit of accumulating black mould

If you're lying down then they can cool you even if they add net heat to the room. Particularly if you have windows open too, or you're also running AC. (I find I can set AC to a significantly higher temperature with mattress cooling.)

We have an Eight Sleep and I love it. My wife got it for us without telling me as I would have keeled over at the price but once we had it, I was convinced. I sleep hot and she cold so she can turn her side up to tropical while I keep mine pleasantly chilled.
zilchusername@reddit
I just looked at those yes they are eye watering expensive but if it helps me stay asleep all night it’s probably worth it. Would probably have considered it until I saw that you then have a monthly fee. I can’t believe they charge that much for something and you have to continue paying!
heymerideth@reddit
I hear you. It’s frustrating BUT you can cancel the subscription after the first year. So basically you figure it’s $200 extra for year one and then you can cancel it. I will say I’ve never slept better.
zilchusername@reddit
Does it still work without the subscription? It might be worth factoring a year of that in the cost if you can still use it afterwards.
heymerideth@reddit
It does! (At least for our Pod 3) You just fiddle with the settings yourself via the app instead of it using data to decide for you. You’ll learn your preferred settings with use. You basically don’t get all the data collection, which I don’t care about. And you have to manually set it to your preferred temperatures (3 settings: bed time, sleep, dawn). But I honestly don’t notice any thing else. And tbh, the “menopause” setting which immediately drops the bed to -10 setting for 15 mins is amazing and worth it. 🤣

I got a cooling gel mattress topper which worked really well. That and a good fan has helped wonders with our converted attic bedroom in summer.
Outrageous_Can5660@reddit (OP)
Where did you buy the cooling mattress topper from?
tsdesigns@reddit
We got one from dunelm, but there's plenty of options around

Don't overlook your mattress. We recently swapped out Simba Hybrid for a fancy mattress from Benson for Beds and features some temperature regulating magic.. What a difference.
The mattress is ice cold when getting into bed, to the point I need to hype myself up to lay on it (birthday suit sleeper).
It keeps me the perfect temp though, I never wake up anymore.
Was the iGel Nanotech if you want to check it out.

Yeah I recently got the simba hybrid mattress topper which is much better than my old one but still not as good as I thought it would be for keeping cool.

8 sleep needs a subscription now with key features behind a paywall

Get a waterbed, they are temp controlled with a heat pack so you can turn it right down and it cools you down.I have had one for 25 yrs+ and could never go back to a normal bed.
seven-cents@reddit
Lots of new mattresses are very comfortable to lie on initially (mold to your shape etc), but they don't breathe. Even Tempur which supposedly does "breathe". I tried one on the 100 day trial and hated it. It made me sweat even when the room was really cold.
Good pocket sprung mattresses are the way to go as they allow proper airflow

Try a blind within the actual window frame (white to reflect heat) and another, larger one to negate any additional heat (as smaller one will heat up and radiate within the window area). Works for me!
trevpr1@reddit
I cannot use a duvet. They are all or nothing, Instead I use a brushed cotton sheet with up to three blankets. Your body loses heat at a variable rate through those. Most of winter I am under the sheet and two blankets, and most of the summer just one blanket. Hot nights just the sheet or sometimes not even that.
PracticeNo8733@reddit
I use a Climsom (pumped chilled water, similar to OOLER). Works pretty well and it's my (quieter and more energy efficient) first line option before switching on the portable AC as well.
geeered@reddit
Yes, did help on really hot summer nights for me, but also was pretty noisy for someone that's light sleeper and likes quiet - I've got a plan to extend the hoses so I can run it from the ensuite, pipes under the door so it's quiter.
ToriaLyons@reddit
Egyptian cotton bed linen (mine is M&S 230 TC), and a down duvet, 4.5 togs even in winter. If your heating is at all functional, you don't need 13 togs or even 10. Sometimes, a thin blanket over the top, but this is mostly to prevent my dogs from leaving paw prints on my nice sheets.
idreaminlowercase@reddit
I have the same issue and I have to use a portable ac. They are pricey but really good
