Im not disagreeing with you in this, but consider it includes the BCM version of an A5 buffer system which ~$125-150. And a ~$50 stock. So its not too terribly over priced versus a milspec PSA complete lower.

The BCM buffer system is crazy underrated. Pretty sure it's designed by the same guy that designed the VLTOR buffer. Also you won't get a better fitment for your BCM upper. My tism brain wants the tiny bit of play between my BCM upper and Aero lower gone, but that alone isn't worth $400+ after taxes and FFL transfer fee

FWIW, I'm in the process of building out a Griffin MK2 ($200) with milspec LPK ($35), Larue MBT ($100), blem BCM mk2 buffer system ($85) and B5 furniture ($50).
All told, significantly more expensive than OP, but with some notable upgrades.

Some people don't mind spending a little more instead of buying the absolute cheapest budget tier option. And yeah PSA lowers are known to be reliable, I don't have access to failure rate data or anything(obviously), but I'd wager BCM has even fewer issues. If you were on a SWAT team grabbing a rifle, same upper, BCM lower vs PSA lower, which one are you taking?

Realistically? Nothing magical. It’s still an AR lower. BCM just has tighter QC, nicer machining, and you’re paying for the assembly/parts quality. A PSA lower will absolutely work though, that’s why the AR platform is great.

From what BCM dudes have told me, BCM’s whole philosophy is simplicity and durability. Ambi lowers add extra linkages and parts that can fail, and BCM tends to stick closer to a refined mil-spec design instead of adding features.
They’re kinda the Toyota of the gun world.

70s and 80s cars were notoriously unreliable and severely underpowered, mostly due to advancing emissions regulations.
The Nissan Frontier is a prime example of an excellent vehicle, IMO. It went virtually unchanged for 15 model years (2005 to 2019), has solid performance, and excellent reliability.

Here in SE MI most dealerships quote 2-3 weeks to even look at a car and fight warranty claims as hard as possible to blame the customer.
My boss has a BRAND NEW Tahoe that has 5000 miles on it, it's been at the Chevy dealer 3+ times since he bought it becuase it keeps randomly needing to be jumped. Each time he takes it there, it's 7 days to get it inside and then they tell him they can't find an issue and to pick it up. Last time he went to pick it up, it was dead in their parking lot lol.
Some people would rather spend a few bucks getting a car diagnosed properly and not having to wait a month for a misdiagnosis or hassle. For larger things that are expensive or only dealers can fix, we recommend they make appointments and wait it out.

As far as I have seen most current ambi lowers literally just mirror the paddle function. If it wasn't a huge risk to the oper8or on the left side, I doubt the gun will explode if you it again on the right.

Yeah your left side paddle can also break off, this is hardly a unique new failure due to ambi. I was asking about actual malfunctions induced by the ambi linkage breaking.
This lower in a broken state is now the same as how the BCM one ships.
Most modern ambi lowers also don't use weird buttons or levers, they just have paddles on both sides.

I'd absolutely get ambi for a little extra if the ones you are looking at come with it. You don't "need" it, but if we follow that logic you probably also don't need BCM and could get an even cheaper lower that probably does just as well.
