Sallie Mae charge off just reported in February. Scared and confused

I just found a reported chargeoff from a Sallie Mae loan that I had stopped paying in 2022. Why was this just reported in February of this year? I’m in Texas so I believe there is a 4 year limit on being sued. How screwed am I?

Collection agency will start calling you soon. Same thing happening to me

I’ve gotten voicemails from NR solutions. I’m hoping to avoid them until the SOL is past in a few months.

Good luck 🫡

What ended up happening with yours?

Im in the same boat as you. I defaulted back in December & collection agencies are calling me. Ill either be able to ride out the 4 year SOL here in Texas or I’ll end up setting if they do sue me

Is this for federal loans or true private loans?

Private from everything I can tell

Double check this. True private loans do not show up in your FSA account.
With that being said, this kind of debt is no different than any other consumer debt. This means they have to follow consumer protection laws and statute of limitations to collect. Also, stay privy of any court filing against you relating to this debt as they may sue so you want to show up in court.

They sold it to a collections agency.
