[Ammo] $14.99 Blazer suppressor 147

No jacket separation from this one. 900 for. With ammo going up April first, going to pass this a long. Most likely will be cheaper than the new price of 150 syntech if you go over 300$ it takes 10% off and 8$
29 cpr over 300 shipping

As someone who's reloaded tons of 9mm over the years, I just don't see the stupid price increase for a little more heavier of a bullet. I think it's a rip off personally. The amount of extra powder is so negligible that it would only cost a few cents more total.
Mountain_Spring123@reddit (OP)
Honestly reloading is really the way to go. I’ve been wanting to get a Dillon 750 and just do my own. But yet I say that and here I am buying from academy lol.
accounts_baleeted@reddit
I have about ten friends that 'wanted' to get into reloading. One actually did, another five have a smattering of components collecting dust, and the others never got past the idea of reloading.
It's great if you invest the time and effort, but it takes a lot.
DragonfruitSucks87@reddit
I have wanted to get into reloading for awhile now but I get confused by what I need to get started
Is it feasible to have everything you need to begin reloading 9mm subs under 1-1.5k?
BackbackB@reddit
get a rock chucker kit to start with when theyre on sale. buy calipers. buy dies, powder, bullets, and primers. id say 600 all in but can be cheaper if you check your local forums for used gear. lots of boomers getting out of the game and they have reloading stuff theyve hoarded for years
accounts_baleeted@reddit
Yes, but you won't have a fancy Dillon press. And you will need more tools for bottleneck rifle cartridges, mostly for case prep. Straight walled pistol cases never or rarely need length trimmed or primer pockets reamed/swaged, so they're easier.
I use an older version of the lee 4000 press for my pistol calibers, I think the new model is around $300. Not sure if it comes with dies.
Die set is about $50. Calipers to measure brass and cartridge oal is $20-$100, cheap scale for powder charge weights is $25 or so.
Primers are $60-90 per 1k, I order from sportsmans warehouse and ship to store for pickup. It avoids a hazmat shipping fee.
Powders will need to be fast burning pistol powders, not sure on the price per lb these days, i stocked up on pistol powder years ago. The faster the better for subs, since you want ALL that powder burnt up in the barrel. Google is your friend for that. I use shooter world cleanshot for my 9mm subs, and ramshot enforcer for my spicy 124gr loads.
As for bullets, my primary supplier of coated lead went out of business, so I've been keeping an eye on raven rocks and parapet components for good deals. You would ideally want 5-7 cent per bullet, but materials and manufacturing is in constant Flux, so prices may vary. You can also Google around for coated lead like 'blue bullets' they are sometimes less, sometimes more than jacketed.
Xtreme makes a good 165gr that I have used. Can't tell a difference in sound against a generic 147 though.
DragonfruitSucks87@reddit
Sweet! Thanks for the info it is much appreciated :)
Tal_Vez_Autismo@reddit
So what's your price per round after you've got your little production line set up? I'm trying to figure out how much I have to shoot to break even, lol.
accounts_baleeted@reddit
I'm still using components I bought five or six years ago, so it's less than starting today, but if I did star today....
~8c bullet ~7c primer ~2.5c powder
Total 17.5cpr not including brass. Prices for everything can vary by a few cents. These seem average for today though.
That's also assuming 3.5gr of powder at $50/lb
My real savings show up for 44, 30-06, 6.5 swede and creed, 7.5 swiss and other weird/old milsurp stuff.
The precision boost in bolt guns, and to a lesser degree ARs, is priceless.
Coyoteishere@reddit
That’s been my biggest concern. I have a lot of hobbies as it is. Shooting competitions is one but I don’t want an additional full on time-consuming hobby just to support my shooting hobby.
It’s also the reason I waited to get into 3d printing so long. I wanted to design an print stuff, not have a hobby of maintaining and constantly tweaking and upgrading printers which is how the early days were. Just getting something to successfully print back the was its own hobby.
accounts_baleeted@reddit
I don't compete, so I don't need to crank out crazy numbers or use a big Dillon press. Just enough to keep me busy out Inna woods.
I got into old milsurps a few years ago, and being able to load for them is crucial.
BackbackB@reddit
i wouldnt start with a 750. get a rockchucker kit and learn on single stage. its cheaper, easier to learn/setup, and you will still use the single stage if you decide to upgrade later. its super easy and really doesnt take alot of time. if i decide to reload over the weekend i c clamp a couple 2x4 to my kitchen table and i load up what i want. then i break it down sunday and tuck it away untill the next time. when one of my children leave home, ill have my own room to stay setup in but the short of the story is dont wait its very easy. id say 500 bucks and you can get a kit, caliper, and a set of pistol dies and have money to check local forums for cheap powder and projectiles and primers. it pays for itself if you can devote just a little bit of time
BenDover42@reddit
It is for certain calibers. I do for .357 magnum/.38, .45 and 10mm. Obviously other calibers it’s beneficial but for 9mm I don’t see the point. I can regularly buy ammo for 20 cents per round at my local academy in 9mm so I can’t be bothered to mess with 9mm.
SackOfCats@reddit
For subs its worth it.
I reload 165 grain 9mm. The brass lasts forever and I have like 40,000 pieces of it.
BenDover42@reddit
That’s fair. I just don’t have a use for subsonic 9mms myself and get 115 or NATO monarch for dirt cheap. If all 9mm was sub priced it would be worth it to me.
Jason1435@reddit
I'm finding 147s for 24-26cpr, this is a ripoff
I_had_the_Lasagna@reddit
Where? I just paid 27.5 for a couple of cases and I could stand to get more.
AscendantJustice@reddit
Because that's not how large scale manufacturing works. Switching from loading 115 grain to 147 grain isn't just about using less powder and a heavier bullet. It's stoping an entire production line, prepping for the next one, and then starting the next one. There are costs incurred every time you stop a production line. And those costs get passed onto the consumer. If you have a production line dedicated to loading 147s, then that's less 115s that they can sell. And they're definitely still selling a lot more 115s than 147s so there's probably not a huge incentive.
iliekdrugs@reddit
As someone who reloads 9mm, 147gr subs generally use less powder than smaller weight bullets eg. 115/124gr
Puzzleheaded_Fee4616@reddit
But what costs more per grain? Powder or projectiles?
accounts_baleeted@reddit
Powder is $40-70 a pound. Lead is $1-2
iliekdrugs@reddit
OP edited his comment
BossJackson222@reddit
Yeah you're right.
Outdoorslife1@reddit
Bingo
gunplumber700@reddit
I don’t disagree with the sentiment. But unless you have a ton of extra money lying around for the initial investment in reloading equipment it’s easier to buy it. Thats the time investment aside.
TengounaFesili@reddit
Even if I do get into reloading, which I’d like to, I’m going to focus on the more expensive rounds like .458 SOCOM, .300 blackout subs, custom .308, etc. , .29cpr is not bad at all
cosmos7@reddit
If you're reloading then the same is true for pretty much all handgun cartridges... they all cost about the same when reloading. 10mm is only a couple more cpr than 9mm.
afuckingwheel@reddit
TMJ and lead free primer
Jason1435@reddit
What's the hype for this sale though. You can find AE ammo and Speer 147s for 24 cpr. Unless your running an 8"+ barrel that's turning those into supersonics, $14.99/$13.50 is pretty mediocre deal.
Old_MI_Runner@reddit
Some of us had an Academy card so save another 5%. I don't see any Speer 147 at AE Ammo right now but there is a number of Speer Gold Dot rounds but those are defensive rounds that cost much more. How long ago did they have it for that price?
Given all the ammo I have seen creep up in price over all of 2025 and creep up more in 2026 I don't assume I will see any sale price repeated from one month to the next.
-1----1-@reddit
Damn. OOS for shipping.
Old_MI_Runner@reddit
Refresh the webpage several times a day and you may find a limited quantity avaiilable for ordering online. 20 boxes were available at one point on Thursday before selling out again and 30 were available around 1 AM EST today.
u/laterisingphxnict u/Psychological-Drive4 u/osirhc
osirhc@reddit
I'm gunna keep this in an open tab today at work and see if I can get lucky haha, thanks for the tip brother
Old_MI_Runner@reddit
My guess is Academy may update their webpages for new stock very late at night so be sure to check right before you go to bed at night and as soon as you get up in the morning.
Old_MI_Runner@reddit
You're welcome. I was surprisead when it showed up as available yesterday. I gave it a try a day or two before and it was listed as available for order on my phone even though others stated it was OOS here. Within just a couple of minutes I switched to my laptop and it was OOS once again. I was hoping it would show up as in stock again.
osirhc@reddit
I saw it came back in stock 2 hours ago, by the time I got to it I could only add 8 boxes, but by the time I got to checkout it was sold out again lol. But there may be more chances if it keeps coming back in stock like this
K2YenD@reddit
Yo these are nuts. Stayed subsonic in my 8" barrel + clean + less gassy + accessible (if you have academy near you).
JohnnyGrilledCheese@reddit
Anyone run this thru a SS mp5?
jdgsr@reddit
No, but if it's just rebranded lawman like the other comment says, I can confirm that stuff definitely works!
JohnnyGrilledCheese@reddit
Damn! ASD lower?
jdgsr@reddit
It's a printed leber v2 with a traditional super safety.
JohnnyGrilledCheese@reddit
Oh nice! Thats what I have. Ever have any reliability issues like light strikes? I'd love to know your specs or any parts you've swapped out
jdgsr@reddit
Not yet. I did get an as designs metal slip trip, and I'm running the 'pdw' configuration (B&T stock with rubber buffer, trilug suppressor) so there's some extra umph. I am also running an RCM 80 degree locking piece.
JohnnyGrilledCheese@reddit
Appreciate it bro
ColtMadeThemEqual@reddit
I have run it through my AP5 with an ASD lower and arc fire and it was flawless. Used with a Rugged Sub9.
JohnnyGrilledCheese@reddit
Hell yea! Picking up a sub9 for my ap5p this weekend
rickybobbyeverything@reddit
I ran it through my ar9 with SS and suppressor no issues.
craigcraig420@reddit
I paid this same price on 2/28. Is it a deal?
Old_MI_Runner@reddit
Yes, it is a good price with 10% off with $300+ purchase for those that want this type of clean round that is also subsonic. I also got an additional 5% off by paying with my Academy card. Search for "clean fire" at Ammoseek. Both this and the identical Speer version will show up at higher prices with nothing lower than this as of yesterday. Also prices have been rising through 2025 and 2026. Price increases went into affect in Oct 2025, Jan 2026, and now there is one for April 2026.
If you just want cheap 9mm then search for Monarch posting on this subreddit but note that you may find the better version made by Magtech from Brazil on store shelves but you may receive some from BPS, TRN, or ZSR that is made in Turkey if you order Monarch online. Subsonic 145gr or heavier factory ammo has higher prices than 115gr and 124gr factory ammo.
second_ary@reddit
how does this compare to the remington 147gr green box that's always on sale for 15 bucks for 50?
Impossible-Chance993@reddit
What is proven safe ammo to run suppressed? 19x with saw shiv
thismyotheraccount2@reddit
lawman 147s, federal syntech 150s (not gonna see those for a while yet), and federal 147s (might be super depending on barrel length / env) have been good for me
Mountain_Spring123@reddit (OP)
I did see however in one of the reviews that one guy had some, so I’m not totally sure what happened in his case
Mountain_Spring123@reddit (OP)
I have not ran it with a shiv, but an obsidian 9. When I cleaned it, I had no jacket separations and when ran on a pcc between the two over 500 rds. I would have seen it when I cleaned it if there was any.
berner3755@reddit
I ordered several boxes from CCI to test, fails to completely cycle through my PDP Pro, Glock 19, and 2011 Forza. I tried with and without suppressors. I’ve used Syntech 150 and 147 that cycles just fine. I set these aside for whenever I get a PCC to test.
rickybobbyeverything@reddit
I ran this with my 26 Glock and 9mm AR with a frt, suppressed and unsuppressed with no issues. About 150rds.
osirhc@reddit
Fuck, I'm a day late on this. I would have picked up a case easy
HawtDoge@reddit
What do you mean by ‘ammo going up april first’? Like across the board or just one brand in particular?
Mountain_Spring123@reddit (OP)
Apparently vista outdoors is increasing their price of ammo April 1st, but I actually think they got bought out by a bigger company so when I say vista it might be bigger than just them? I think they own Cci and federal, but someone might be able to correct me and shed some more light on it.
Old_MI_Runner@reddit
The same Czech company also bought Fiocchi.
HawtDoge@reddit
Oh interesting, yup they own CCI, federal and Remington Ammunition. Thanks for the info!! I’ll put in some orders
Mountain_Spring123@reddit (OP)
https://www.reddit.com/r/ammo/s/MaL9JuP2VR
Vampier525@reddit
Anyone run this through a full size MP5? Curious if it stays subsonic
ohnoesimbanned@reddit
It says 900 FPS. Syntech is advertised as 890 FPS. This will definitely stay subsonic.
laterisingphxnict@reddit
OOS at my local Academy. No shipping available either.
Psychological-Drive4@reddit
same
kaloozi@reddit
Yeah idk look at the reviews on this one. Someone posted jacked separation yesterday. I was mulling over this last night and decided to go with Speer for the trust
Mountain_Spring123@reddit (OP)
So supposedly this jacket is different than the other blazer, it’s not a plated jacket. So this won’t separate like regular blazer.
Prestigious_Mix4569@reddit
Yeah, “TMJ” is a FMJ that has a “gas check” added on its base, so the entire bullet is wrapped in a copper jacket. (FMJ’s despite the name actually have exposed lead base, I reload my own FMJ and TMJ for suppressor use).
Diligent-Parfait-236@reddit
TMJ means plated and not jacketed, as far as I'm aware you can't fully enclose lead with a jacket, or at least not for 30cpr.
Mountain_Spring123@reddit (OP)
Think of the Speer Lawman projectile, it’s the same one as that. From my understanding that one is TMJ and not plated
kaloozi@reddit
I can’t post screenshots here however I encourage to look at the most recent review of this ammo on Academy’s site from last night
Mountain_Spring123@reddit (OP)
I just checked that out, I haven’t had any through mine. It’s quiet and hasn’t given me any trouble. I guess I should say ymmv?
Buttoshi@reddit
What's going on with April 1st? April fools?
Vorpalis@reddit
The $ always goes in front of the number, despite that it's spoken opposite. Seems nitpicky, but it really does improve readability.
TestInternational352@reddit
Just buy the 115gr Monarch. $300, 19.6cpr. I am cheap AF. I know.
JohnnyGrilledCheese@reddit
That ain't subsonic tho
clientnotfound@reddit
ammo is always going up soon
Mountain_Spring123@reddit (OP)
You’re not wrong, it could totally be the same old song and dance we have always heard or it could go up some. I think with the subsonic lines being more done in runs it might not be a bad idea to snag some, especially with so many other people looking to shoot their suppressors in the spring though
Ok_Ganache_9081@reddit
What’s the “new price” of 150 Syntech? Not saying with a tone, just asking
Mountain_Spring123@reddit (OP)
From what I heard from Aeammo , prices were increasing. I think I paid 28 or more cpr last time I purchased from them. So I would feel like it has to be 30 cpr or higher. But you never know maybe that price increase statement is just a scare to make everyone buy. Who knows
Ok_Ganache_9081@reddit
I’ve seen listings recently (last week-last month or so) that were in sub 27.5cpr delivered so that’s why I ask. Feel like Syntech naturally comes in waves to distributors given it’s a specific manufacturer.
Good list either way OP. Thanks!
CraZyCHile@reddit
72cpr
redacted_robot@reddit
Ehhh, like mixalot said, one time's got no case. Once it's back on the market it will stabilize down.
Biddlebomber@reddit
Paid $12.82 per box plus tax with the $300+ 10% discount and 5% card discount stacking.
Mountain_Spring123@reddit (OP)
Comes to $13.49 per 50. 900 fps
Biddlebomber@reddit
Hell yeah, been looking for a subsonic 9mm deal thanks!
