Okay looking for any crew cab truck interior camping setups! For two if possible, Iam 6’5 for you Americans and I have a fiancé who camps with me but she’s tiny. In the future I want to get a cap and build a camper back there but for now cab interior is what I want to work with so I can leave my bed open for hauling motorcycles etc etc. any setups yall have? I’m have a bench front seat so i can remove/ fold my passenger seat and my partner can ride center seat and back seat can be removed, or folded.

If you have the storage just buy a cheap Facebook marketplace topper and a full size mattress and it’ll be infinitely more comfortable for around 200-300 dollars.

Unfortunately, toppers for a 8 foot truck of my body style are really expensive

Look for a work style cap, they’re ugly so they’re cheaper

Trust in marketplace and be willing to deal with fuckd up paint. But yeah 8ft beds are the most common but also expensive.
Nightshade400@reddit
I don't think 8ft beds are all that common anymore. For fullsize 6.5ft is considered a big bed because everyone wants crewcab shortbeds (5.5ft) now. When I look around the area I live that is nearly all I see, reg cab and even xcabs really stand out and a long bed is like finding a unicorn it feels like.

Might just be my market place but it was a lot harder for me to find a topper for my 6.75ft bed whereas I had alot of options if I had an 8ft.

check out the inflatable truck cap. It's much less costly.

Dude you need a softopper. Convertible bed topper. Best of both worlds and an excellent camping set up

Sit in the passenger seat, slide the seat back, crack a window, pull your hat down over your eyes, fall asleep.
Congratulations! You're camping!

Maybe a megacab RAM?

Brah if your six foot five there’s no way to comfortably sleep in the cab

Can be comfy in the fetal position, for those who normally sleep curled in a ball.

This, 100%. I am not as tall as 6'5", but I have spent a lot of time sleeping in a crew cab 3/4 ton because I was being cheap and lazy, and it was absolutely miserable. Best way solo is probably sleeping across the rear seats but this isn't practical when loaded up or with additional people.
My goto solution if it's in the budget for lazy comfort is some sort of imported double swag with the heavy duty floor and built in mattress. The main drawbacks are that it's pretty big when packed, you can't stand up inside it, and ideally you want to go through the hassle of importing a roll-top style giant drybag if you're going to throw it in the bed of a truck. I think I paid $150 USD for my waterproof bag, with $100 shipping from Australia. And, well, I guess they can be considered expensive also at $600 USD+
They're stout so they do pretty good in the cold, can zip most of the way up to screens for hot weather, are waterproof, and set up in a 2 minutes.

I am taller and sleep in a Jeep Gladiator, all these guys saying its impossible haven't been creative. If you are really up for it and won't have anyone else in the truck you got options.
You already mentioned you replaced the back bench, next step is the passenger seat. A comfortable bed can easily be placed there, it will just extend into the back area.

I'm right at about 6' even and camped in my truck last year for 7 nights on a elk hunt. I have a 4th gen Ram and the rear seats fold up to allow for a decent base. Threw down the air pad, a few blankets and my sleeping bag at it wasn't too bad. I liked being able to just call it a night anywhere and not having to set up camp.
I generally don't sleep stretched out completely. I would slide the driver seat up and gain a little foot room if I needed to stretch out, but it did start to feel a bit cramped by the end. 6' 5" would be rough.

Am also 6’5” and have a F350 crew cab. Unless you enjoy sleeping in the fetal position it’s not going to work. I have my rear seats removed for gear but before I built the rack back there I crawled in while it was totally empty and stretched out - no go.

open the window for your feet ig

Brotha I’m 6’1 with a Chevy 2500 and can’t lay in the cab without being scrunched up in a ball. Especially not with my gf. How tf r u gonna do that being 6’5 😂.

Get a tent

Best way to sleep in the cab of the truck is to lay the front seats back, it sucks but that is about it if you are over 6ft tall
