In other news, Nvidia's stock price goes even higher, as Amazon buy's more APU's that will be headed to Dubai. Additionally, Amazon's share price is ticks higher as Nvidia pledges to rent server time for AI training. No bubbles to see here folks, move along.

The insurance/replacement costs are insane to think about. 2 datacenter claims could sink an insurer or make them insolvent at the very least.
View on Reddit #79654318

weirdkittenNC@reddit

Insurance is usually pooled at this level, if Amazon bothers with insurance at all.
View on Reddit #79742306

OrbitalGravyInserter@reddit

Everything is reinsured, sure. But I still think the total loss of two data centers would cripple most insurance companies in America today.

Except they won't be headed to Dubai, they'll rebuild on former farmland or former publicly owned land in rural US.
View on Reddit #79658294

Vertigo_uk123@reddit

Except the main reason Amazon has servers worldwide is due to data transfer across borders. Some countries don’t like their data being hosted on servers in another country. That and latency. Dubai will be rebuilt / repaired and probably upgraded in the process.

Also, General Dynamics stock up 10% as they sign deal with Amazon to deploy land-based Phalanx CIWS derivative(McAfee Chromedome) to protect Amazon data centers in the region.

It also could be some sort of wiring or fiber optics that needs to be replaced but I see what you mean.

Gotta laugh at “one of our Availability Zones (mec1-az2) was impacted by objects that struck the data center, creating sparks and fire. ”

Sounds like they have a boiler plate response they use but that it a really weird boiler plate response. I would expect something like "some services may be interrupted" rather than "creating sparks and fire."

No one in this thread is serious. It’s all jokes. No information. There must be a better alternative to reddit. This is the prepper sub. You’d think there would be actual conversations about the implications of this attack and what the future might look like. This came up on my all or whatever feed. I thought clicking on the comments section would provide actual dialogue not just everyone’s best attempt at a joke. Y’all must be bots. That’s the only explanation. Flood the internet with bots to downplay the situation and drown out any actual discussion.

They host an American military base being used in the illegal war against Iran. They're a legitimate target.

Cloudflare is having issues. Claude was having issues. Hacktivists might be attempting to organize, but that's speculation on my part. My guess is we'll get to see how robust the global routing infra is with all the disruptions due to strikes.

View on Reddit #79645689

AI powered drone takes out one of the nodes that runs part of its own hive mind network. I can absolutely imagine a day where an Anduril built drone controlled by Palantir and running off an Oracle or AWS server actually strikes its own infra. Highly unlikely in this scenario given that Iran is using their own or imported tech from China/Russia/etc.

This may not be the place to ask but is there a singular up to date source that I can use to track what's going on? Is Iran still bombing even though their leader is dead? All these videos coming out are fucking my timeline up.

I haven't looked recently, but the UK newspaper The Guardian usually does pretty good minute by minute updates without infodumping too hard. My other favorite news source used to be, and I am completely serious here, r/interestingasfuck, but they "banned politics" at some point. 😖

The UAE is really primitive in military. The British completely run their airspace alongside a ton of their bases. That being said the UAE has more combat experience than most countries. I know this because of first hand accounts. Some of their bases are built completely around their refineries for added protection.

Not all items need protection, either. Protect the bases that house hard to replace assets, yes. Civilian infrastructure, not so much. USvsIran.com is interesting to play around with.

Saturation attack. Be it a drone or scud derivative, they're much cheaper than Patriot or Thaad missiles. Iran has been making both for so many years and can afford to overwhelm any defenses you can have.
