Hi! Can anyone recommend a virtual phone number that can send sms and call with a UK number? Client is asking and never thought this would be hard to find.

I have been using KrispCall. You can easily send sms and call with a UK number.

I've had some experience with setting up virtual phone numbers for clients and I'd like to suggest CallHippo as another option. They offer a range of features including SMS and call forwarding, and it's relatively easy to set up a UK number. I've had good experiences with their customer support as well. Just wanted to add another option to the table.

You can check out dialnote. They support virtual business numbers with calling.. SMS..softphone access.. call routing... and AI receptionist features.
UK virtual numbers with proper SMS support are honestly harder to find than most people expect, but Dialnote is pretty solid for business use cases.

Uk sms is trickier than it sounds because of ofcom regulations around virtual numbers. a lot of providers will give you a uk number for calling but won't enable two-way sms on it, which is where people get stuck.
callhippo and ringcentral both support uk numbers with calling and sms. twilio technically does too but that's more of a developer setup. for something your client can just get running without much configuration, callhippo or openphone would probably be the easiest starting point.

Good question. The VoIP and business phone space has genuinely improved in the last two years — better CRM integrations, more transparent pricing, and AI features that are actually useful rather than just marketed.
CallHippo is worth putting on your shortlist. Strong international coverage, clean integrations with HubSpot and Salesforce, and pricing that does not penalise you for scaling. What is the specific use case you are trying to solve?

the sms part is what makes uk virtual numbers annoying to find. most voip providers give you a uk number for calls just fine but two-way sms support is hit or miss depending on the provider. i've had decent luck with callhippo and openphone for uk numbers, calls work well on both. for sms specifically you'll want to verify their current coverage because ofcom keeps changing the rules around virtual number texting. zadarma's solid too like someone else said. definitely test sms both directions before you commit though.

I’ve been using Zadarma for the past year and it’s worked fine doing all those things.

I just had to do this. I signed up for Swytch and got a number, ported in my mother’s number and my own UK number. Works fine, calls are fine, texts work. CS has been pretty responsive as well

Try VoIP.ms.

I use swytch for that. Never let me down
