9800X3D VS 9850X3D (I really need help please say something)

I have a 600 Hz monitor. I'm building a new system for CS2. I'm going to buy G-SKILL CL26 RAM and overclock it. In short, I don't want to see anything below 600 fps in CS2. I'm just undecided about the CPU.
9800x3d - $510
9850X3D - $600
The price difference isn't an issue for me. I want to get the 9850X3D because it offers a +70 FPS difference in CS2, and that's a significant FPS difference for me.
However, I'm hesitant about power consumption and temperature.
The AIO I'll be using in the new system: ROG RYUO IV SLC 360
In a video I just watched, the 9850X3D reached a maximum of 75 degrees with this AIO.
Is this temperature value risky? I think it's high.
What do you think I should do? Please share your thoughts.
Scarabesque@reddit
Modern cpu would throttle before anything dangerous occurs. 75 is very far off throttling of any kind.
Even with a 9850x3d you will get frequent frame drops below 600fps in cs2, it's just the nature of the game, but it's the fastest gaming CPU ever.
The cl26 is likely a bigger waste of money as with x3d cpus the difference with cl30 is absolutely tiny.

After buying CL26 RAM, I'll change the timings in the BIOS. I saw a video that showed a +100 fps difference in CS2.
fantome11@reddit
I don’t think you understand how ram timings work with x3d chips, you’ll essentially be throwing money down the drain. There is next to no difference with x3d chips.
That ram isn’t going to make or break the 600fps threshold.

I can’t deal with you people. Go wild spend it fuck if I care ain’t my cash.
GoodSand7725@reddit
Bro sent the same video twice, second time with no reply simply just a “no here’s the proof I’m right”. You really can’t argue with idiots like this😂
Jolly-Ball-51@reddit (OP)
I'm showing you video evidence and you're still denying it. If you don't know anything, then shut up.
fantome11@reddit
Okay nah, fuck that.
I said the difference is next to nothing, and what you’ve shown me in that video, is literally next to no difference.
Seriously, next time you ask for advice, or better yet, when you receive advice from people who very clearly know more than you, either take it, or piss off, no in between.
You are arguing my case for me, and if 1, barely 2% in performance, and we’re talking on a 850-900+ fps is not next to nothing for you, than you’re even more clueless than I thought.
Go to r/pcmasterrace with that mentality, you’ll fit right in.
Jolly-Ball-51@reddit (OP)
You clearly watched the video with your ass instead of your eyes. If you had watched it to the end, you would have seen that the CL26 RAM gave 900 fps and that it went up to 1000 fps after changing the timings. Now shut your mouth and fuck off.

That's absolute nonsense.
The 9850x3d giving you 70+ fps on average also sounds ludicrous, at least in actual gaming scenarios.

I would be very sceptical of random YouTube benchmarks posted by small unvetted accounts, but instead rely on proven, respected outlets.
Haven't said that I have not yet seen cl26 or 9850x3d specific reviews of cs2. Still, those results are very, very far removed from average gains.

As far as I understand, almost no one here understands X3D processors. According to my advice, the L3 cache is very temperature-sensitive; its performance drops when the CPU temperature is above 57-59. Watch the video 9800X3D vs 9850X3D where they compare them in CS2. I just watched it and saw 1% and 0.1% lower on the 9850X3D. Perhaps the 9850X3D will perform better, but then you'll need to configure it to -30CO and create optimal operating conditions.

The Ryzen 9 9000 series CPUs are meant to run hot.
Their TJ max is around 90-95Cs and AMD intentionally made them that way.
I have a Ryzen 9 9950X paired with a Lian LI GA 2 360mm AIO and when at full load on the CPU the chips stays at around 82-84C and doesn't thermal throttle at all.
So if your chip is going to stay at 70C that's very very good.
Go with the 9950X3D
alpine4life@reddit
same....
Born_Bad_1294@reddit
Initially I was scared at the temps but then I learned that these chips are meant to run hot.
alpine4life@reddit
I dont even run an AIO, I run a Peerless Assasin 12SE with 6 other fan in a compact case and everything is fine.... I love my new CPU!
Born_Bad_1294@reddit
What are your temps and what;s your CPU?
I have the above mentioned AIO and a Lian Li V100R case with 4 fans.
So a total of 7 fans but I can add 2 more just haven't done it yet
Onesie13@reddit
I run a phantom spirit (newer version of the peerless assassin) with a 9850x3d in a lian li 207 (only the stock fans) and I get 50-60s during gaming. -30 CO though helped with the temp about 10-15c
Born_Bad_1294@reddit
How the fuck??
I have a Lian LI GA 2 with a Ryzen 9 9950X and it idles at 40-50 average when the AIO is on 30-40 percent.
And at full load and MAX RPMs it still sits at 80C.
Is there something wrong with my chip? My case fans?
Onesie13@reddit
Can't really speak to the 9950x but do you have a -CO on it?
Born_Bad_1294@reddit
No I don't, how do I do it?
Onesie13@reddit
You can enter your bios and adjust it there usually around PBO settings or download and use Ryzenmaster. I used ryzenmaster myself.
Without going into detailed stress tests etc, you could probably safety set a -15 to -20 all core and just leave it at that. That dropped me like around 10c in all temps and took a few minutes
alpine4life@reddit
Can you please explain what you refer to as a -CO?
Onesie13@reddit
Its a negative setting for the curve optimizer in the PBO. Basically it undervolts the cores so less heat is generated
alpine4life@reddit
Ok, no for me on that one... My new desktop is basically made for editing only, so I kept my CPU settings default but overclocked my GPU a bit and still have some headroom when rendering in DaVinci and upscaling at the same time.

Big-Pineapple-9954@reddit
AM5 in general usually runs hot. But I agree, around 70 degrees is a nice run temp for them.
Born_Bad_1294@reddit
idle temps of around 40-50C good for the Ryzen 9 9950X with the AIO at only 30-40 percent RPMs?
sCythe2k25@reddit
Keep in mind hes talking about peak temp not average
RepeatInfamous4252@reddit
i don't think a 9950x3d is an option he mentioned

Typo
My bad

misses shot in CS2 oh man, i missed cus my fps was 599...fuck

wait i have a 480hz 1440p monitor paired with a 9800x3d + 4080s and i dont even hit close to 480hz am i supposed to actually hit 480hz?? dont play competitively so i dont rlyy mind but it would suck if im not getting the full potential
raydialseeker@reddit
The 9850x3d is like $500 now. Anyway it's only worth 5% more than a 9800x3d.
TheDarkrayne@reddit
From my experience it's normal for them to get up to 75-80 in certain situations, even with the best coolers.
80-90 is still totally safe and they won't throttle but it does mean your cooling could be better OR you're not running max fan speed when it gets to 80 OR it's especially hot weather-wise wherever you live.
If it's getting above 90 on cool days then it's definitely time to get better cooling because it could creep higher on hotter days during summer.
With uncapped fps in games it's pretty common to be running in the 70-75 range, especially at 1080p.
Powerful-Ad2869@reddit
9800X3D is more than enough for CS2, i would even go as far as to say its “Overkill”. But that being said, if you dont mind spending a lil extra, sure you can get the 9850X3D
JustSomeSmartGuy@reddit
Just get the 9950X3D. 75°C is a perfectly normal temperature for the 9950X3D. If it was hitting something like 95°C with an 360 AIO, then I'd be worried and I'd suggest checking that the sticker was in fact peeled off. You can even air cool a 9950X3D, it's not like a 14900K where water cooling is a must. In fact even some Threadrippers can be air cooled (THE Linus uses a Noctua air cooler to cool the Threadripper 9960X in his PC that he uses to compile the Linux kernel). A 360mm AIO will have absolutely no problems cooling a 9950X3D.

Are you sure you didn't make a mistake? I was talking about the 9850x3d. You wrote 9950x3d.

Get the 9850x3d if you want your fps lows as high as possible.
Orlyy0056@reddit
75c isn't anything. Especially on an AMD CPU. Also, 75c doing what? Cinebench? You have nothing to worry about, buy it and go on about your day. If you're that concerned learn how to undervolt and then there you go won't even hit 70c probably.
9okm@reddit
Get the 9850X3D. 75 C is nothing.
sCythe2k25@reddit
75 is nowhere close to risky
Born_Bad_1294@reddit
Yeahh
My 9950X stays at 82C at full loads
